Just this week I finished the preliminary work on the creation of my next book. Not the one for 2012 – that one’s been finished since last fall. No, this is my 2013 book, which we need to turn in THIS fall. That’s the way publishing works: everything takes a long time to go from written to published.

I’ve learned a lot about the publishing world in the 20+ years that I’ve been writing books. Some of it is obvious, but other things are not common knowledge. And over the years, I’ve often been asked to share what I know and how I personally have been able to create at least one book – and often more! – each year.

Maybe you want to write a book. Or maybe you’re just interested in knowing about the process. Either way, I think you might enjoy a new seminar my John Maxwell Team has created:

“A Day About Books”

 June 23, 2012, 9:30am-5:00pm
in West Palm Beach, Florida
(special VIP events optional)

In it you’ll learn how I get ideas, and how I work with my research, writing, and publishing team to take those ideas from concept to publication.

Plus, I’m excited to announce a special guest speaker:

Michael Hyatt, Chairman of Thomas Nelson Publishers, the largest Christian publishing company in the world and the seventh largest trade book publishing company in the United States.

In addition to knowing a lot about the publishing world, Mike has become an expert on establishing a platform as a writer and/or speaker. You’ll come away from his session with many practical ideas on how to pursue making your book idea a reality.

I hope you can join me for this special event. I look forward to sharing my thoughts and experiences as a successful author with you.

Join me at Leadercast!

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off

Last Tuesday, at noon EDT, I participated in something I’d never done before. In fact, it was something I’d never SEEN done before: an interview conducted via Twitter.

A “Twitterview,” if you will.

Suddenly, people used to seeing 1-2 Tweets per day from me, received one solid hour of them coming every 2-3 minutes. Sorry if that caught you by surprise. I especially apologize if you had your Twitter set up to send each of my Tweets as a text to your mobile phone. I bet your phone will never be the same.

Anyway, the Twitterview was courtesy of the Chick-fil-A Leadercast, coming up on May 6. Tripp Crosby, the emcee from last year, asked me loads of questions – most of them serious – and I did my best to answer in 140 characters or less.

Leadercast is a leadership conference for people from all walks of life. And because it’s simulcast from the live venue in Atlanta, Georgia, it’s for leaders from all over the world. This year’s speakers include Robin Roberts from ABC’s Good Morning America, Dan Cathy of Chick-fil-A, financial guru Dave Ramsey, and Seth Godin.

You can find out more about Leadercast by visiting their site. Click HERE or on the logo below to learn more.

And if you’re interested in a recap of my Twitterview, you can find it on the Leadercast blog. HERE is a direct link. I hope you enjoy.

Between now and May 6, I’ll be speaking publicly several times, in Ohio and Georgia. (See Events in the sidebar for details.) I’d love to meet you, so if you’re there, please be sure to come up front and say hello at the end of the event. And let me know that you’re a blog reader!

Follow me on Twitter at @JohnCMaxwell.

What’s coming up in November

Liberty Bell

Greetings from the birthplace of the United States – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania!

I’m here for one of my favorite events: The Exchange. And what a privilege it is to walk these streets during the week of the US elections. If you’re a US citizen, I hope you vote. It’s our civic responsibility and our only means of influencing the course of our country.

This month holds a few opportunities to see me, either in person or online.

First, if you’re in – or can get to – the southern United States, I hope you can join me at the Seize the Day seminar on Tuesday, November 9. For only $4.95, an individual can learn from many amazing communicators and leaders. (For only $19.95, an entire office can join us!) Click the link for more information and to purchase tickets.

I’ll also be preaching a couple times in November:

On the 6th and 7th, I’ll be at Christ Fellowship Church in West Palm Beach, Florida. If you’re in the area, I’d love to see you there. But even if you’re nowhere near Florida, you can join me online streaming live here. I hope you can make it!

On the 17th, I’ll be teaching during a midweek service at Faith Family Church in North Canton, Ohio, at 7pm Eastern Time. They’ll also stream live here. So make plans to join us from anywhere in the world!

I love how the power of the Internet allows me to “meet” many more people than I ever could in real life. Thank you for reaching out and connecting with me!

Welcome to my blog’s new look! I’m really pleased with the simplicity of the design, and I hope it serves you, the reader, well.

You may notice some additions to Upcoming Events in the sidebar to the right. —–>

Let me highlight a few of the events where I’ll be speaking this fall:

September 16-18, St Louis, MO

Joyce Meyer’s Women’s Conference starts TOMORROW! I always enjoy appearing with Joyce on her TV show. For this event, I get to speak alongside an amazing lineup, including Joyce, Darlene Zsech, Natalie Grant, Fuze Worship and Dr. Caroline Leaf. Click the picture above for more information.

October 18-21, Pebble Beach, CA

EQUIP is the non-profit organization that I founded in 1996. Specializing in the development of effective international Christian leaders, EQUIP is dedicated to developing servant leaders who shoulder responsibility, meet challenges with courage and creativity and never relinquish their God-given dreams. This Leadership Summit is an opportunity to connect with the people and the vision of EQUIP. I’d love to see you there!

November 3-5, Philadelphia, PA

Giant Impact‘s Exchange Gathering, one of my favorite events, is an opportunity for executive-level leaders to meet with me in an intimate and relaxed environment. This year we’re in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a city whose rich culture and history will inspire us to examine great leaders of the past and forge new paradigms of leadership for the future. I’m excited to welcome some other amazing speakers, including Ben Carson, M.D. (who inspired us so much at this year’s Leadercast) and Michael Useem, leadership author and professor at the University of Pennsylvania.
