Last week we had a lot of fun celebrating the release of Everyone Communicates, Few Connect. Between March 30 and April 1, I was able to give away over 40 signed copies on Twitter.
Now, after a weekend break to focus on the hope and celebration of Easter, I’m looking forward to giving away even more books.
Today we launch the BIG Giveaway on John Maxwell on Leadership!
And it’s for a lot more than 40 books. My publisher, Thomas Nelson, has offered to give away 20 cases of ECFC to 20 lucky blog commenters!
How would YOU use one case (24 copies) of ECFC to improve the connecting skills of people in your sphere of influence?
- Share them with your inner circle?
- Give them to volunteers?
- Lead a book club with fellow students of communication?
Share your creative idea, and you just might WIN!
(residents of the United States and Canada only)
How?
Leave a comment on this post by April 12, 12:00AM EDT describing your idea for how to use a case of books. If you want, you can even shoot a video as part of your comment, put it on YouTube or another video-sharing site, and link to it in your comment. Just be creative!
Next week, representatives from Thomas Nelson will choose their 20 favorite ideas to win one case of books each.
Then I’ll announce winners here and also contact them by email.
It’s that easy. Think of an idea, come back here, and describe it in a blog comment!
Notes:
- Only commenters with a valid email address will be eligible.
- Entries must be posted as a comment here on my blog, not via Facebook, email or any other method.
- Books are unsigned.
- Books are hardcover editions in English.
- Open to participants in the United States and Canada only.
- Winners chosen at the sole discretion of Thomas Nelson (not by John C. Maxwell or his representatives).
I can’t wait to see your ideas!
Remember the deadline: 12 April, 2010, 12AM EDT.

I would give a copy to each person on staff at WRAF plus give one copy to our pastor/church of the week.
I would then do a give away on air to promote the importance of effective communication

I would offer them to my coworkers, as we are all Social Workers and connect with our folks is an important part of the job. Unfortunately, not all of them actually connect, but “meet them and street them”. Not a good face for our agency. I would offer them to my pastors as well, because they know that you provide wonderful leadership material and value a good word. Finally, I would keep one for myself and my husband to read, but we, too, value your good words.

I would start by reading one of the books and then I would give the rest to teachers in our school and to preacher friends that I have.
4 Brian // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:10 pm
I would use them for the book club that I attend.

Making positive things happen in the business community we live in daily!

I would use them for my job seekers group at church. As they go through their job search it’s very important that they connect with the hiring managers.
6 Scott Seeley // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:10 pm
i would pass them along to the team of people i do business with. You are a great author and Leader John and I love reading your material and I know all can benefit from this book
7 Scott Boles // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:10 pm
With a case of John’s new book, I would host a discussion with my core leadership team at my company, and discuss a chapter per session. I would then task them with doing the same with their management teams until the entire leadership/management staff has read, pondered, and discussed the concepts John shares with us.

I’d share them with my favorite Pastor friends, especially those who seem to have a hard time really connecting with their congregations on a deeply personal level.
9 Jorge Medina // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:11 pm
I would create a minister’s book club and invite pastors in my denomination to meet once a week to discuss the book chapter by chapter.
In the end, all their congregations (translating into hundreds of people) would benefit from listening to the improved sermons that those pastors would deliver. At the end of the series, the ministers would be able to better connect and communicate with those under their spiritual care.
This would also introduce Maxwell’s other materials to those he probably most wants to connect with: ministers of the Gospel.

I would keep one for myself and use the other twenty three to teach leadership to a pioneering church work in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

If i could win the books, i will give them to the pastors and youth pastors within my denomation, i currently serve as a sectional director here in my city

Hello Mr. Maxwell!
My idea of how I would use your books if I won would be to share it during one of YOR Health’s weekly seminars. We have a health and nutrition business but we also help people develop into leaders. We practice our of all of your books, especially the 21 irrefutable laws of leadership and the 21 indispensable qualities of a leader. I am POSITIVE this book would not only impact the lives of the 400 weekly trainees, but help us grow and expand into thousands and tens of thousands of people yearning to learn!
13 Mona Lisa Scott // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:13 pm
I would share the book with family, other management at work including a work library and friends from church.
I would also read the book in hopes of becoming better at my work which is supervision of underwriters.
14 Heather Mangold // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:13 pm
First of all, this is a fantastic idea! What a wonderful way to connect with others! As a Maxwell enthusiast and leadership book “junkie” I’ve always enjoyed passing on my favorite books to people. This opportunity would be amazing. If I received 24 copies of the new book I would make a list of 12 colleagues and give them each two books. Why two? Because the book is about connecting – one for them to keep and one to share with another friend, colleague or leader so they can further connect with those around them!
15 Mary West // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:13 pm
I would use them as free giveaways at my own book signing parties to help promote a fellow author and his latest work!
16 Steve Broe // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:13 pm
I am active in the Arizona Small Business Association. If I had a case of Dr. Maxwell’s books, I would announce a special networking event at our ASBA offices, and I would make chocolate chip cookies. The first 23 attenders would get a copy of ECFC – and I’ll keep a copy for myself. BTW, I am reading the 360 Degree Leader and am very enthusiastic about this content.

I would share them with the ministerial staff at my church.
Being in the vocation of ministry it is very important to connect with all types of people. Unfortunately eveyone is not born with the ability to connect with people. I think that this resource coupled with a book talk and a PD workshop would greatly enhance the ministerial staff at my church (www.Tolcm.org)
18 Nadia Ferguson // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:15 pm
I would randomly give them to people I come across or are in my circle of friends/acquaintances that I feel truly will benefit from it. I have two people in particular in our circle of friends whom I just cant seem to get through when I try to convince them or get through to them. For example, I am a faithful believer and follower of Jesus and God, and i have tried to convince numerous friends and family how Christ Fellowship has changed my life and how things are so much better with Jesus in my life and hearing Jesus and God guide through all my daily living better than ever. I was raised in a religious environment and went to private schools , but CF opened the door for me to actually have a “relationship” with Them. I have a friend neighbor also who her and her husband are just not getting along and communication /connection is there . problem. I would give her one and even randomly leave in paths of people that maybe would be offended if i just hand them the book. I feel i would be able to be a blessing and be able to help a lot of people with your book Dr Maxwell. I have your Leadership devotional and its awesome!
19 Dawn Gardner // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:15 pm
I am part of amway. We are learning to become leaders and entenenpeurs. We do read alot of your books. We find them very valuable. We believe in your leadership. I would love a signed copy. I would share the books with the rest of our team
20 Cathy Padilla // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:15 pm
Love John’s books and his leadership ideas. I have just started my own business and would like to use the free books to train my sales associates in the proper techniques of communicating. This would be a huge help, since funds are tight, and it would greatly increase my ability to work with my new staff. As we grow and prosper, I one day hope to have John training my sales staff in person!!!!!
21 Lisa // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:16 pm
I would use 24 copies of “Everyone Communicates, Few Connect” first as possible reading for first impressions ministry I help lead at my church. Our job is to connect the people that come through the doors to the church through building relationships, so this may be a very good practical resource for the volunteers. If there were any left over after that I would give them to my fellow students at the pastoral leadership training school I currently attend.
22 Priscilla Palacios // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:16 pm
I would give a copy to key leaders on my team of business partners. This would be an invaluable resource to reinforcing strong leadership in the financial dynasty I am on my way to creating.
Blessings…
23 Jim Laidlaw // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:16 pm
I would make it a point of taking it to some community leaders and pastors. I go to Haiti often I think it would be a good gift to give to the various Ministers in the Government.
24 Ginny Marchuk // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:17 pm
I would distribute them to my fellow Realtors at Keller Williams Real Estate. We have all heard John Maxwell at our Keller Williams Family Reunions and agents would just love to receive anything from John Maxwell!
25 Tamara // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:18 pm
I am a Pastor’s Wife of a church in the Nashville area and my husband and I would give the books to our church ministry team as well as to other pastors to give to their ministry teams. So many of those in ministry that we are connected with, value your wisdom and consistently support your materials.
26 Chuck Bolton // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:18 pm
I would share the book with members of my team– we could discuss what we each had learned on a team call and benefit from what each learns– it would seem that altho we read the same material, by our experience we process the information somewhat differently. john has taught me that in order to improve i have to improve myself— im responsible for me and only me– but we are influenced by others– with the right group we can control our lives
27 Vivek // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:18 pm
I would give one copy each to the management at my workplace and to the leaders in a non-profit I am intimately involved with.
28 Michele Hill // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:19 pm
Moab Utah is known for recreation and leisure and stepped into the Meetings and Events industry. The adventure brand is strong for Moab, I believe this tome may very well provide a strategy to develop a marketable Moab 4 Meetings. In addition, there are smaller Utah county travel bureaus, with similar meeting places challenges with whom I will share the books to further invite collaboration to place our meeting places in the mind of meeting planners.
29 Kyle Goodman // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:20 pm
I’m a creative director who works primarily with churches and other organizations, and I’d love to be able to pass along copies of the book to some of the people that I recommend for freelance work for local churches. The Kingdom deserves quality and as Christians the message we deliver should be one that should always connect.
30 Perry Holley // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:20 pm
I have three areas of influence in my life where I feel that content like this is greatly needed and would be appreciated. I would give some books to the young men I mentor and meet with on a regular basis. The area of communicating and connecting seems to be a major challenge they face in their first years out of college. Second, I would give some books to my accountability team. This is a group of 6 men that meet regularly and help each other with the challenges of life. Each of us could use content in our own live immediately and in the lives of those we serve over time. And third, I would give some books to my kids who are already pouring their lives and learning into others even though they are in their early 20′s.
Thank you for the opportunity to have a chance at a case of books!!
31 Myron Powell // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:20 pm
I would give them to the 24 most influential people I know with a challenge for each of them to share the book when they finish it.
32 William // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:21 pm
I would give them away, of course. But only to people that I’m pretty sure would read the book. In other words, I wouldn’t give a great book to an individual who doesn’t like to read or has very limited leadership potential or communicating ability. These would be some friends in ministry, church members, and others that I want to invest in and add value to their life. If they’re already bumping their head on their lid… that just might just qualify them too.
33 Robert D. Stevenson // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:22 pm
We have a brand-new dental school, and I would give a copy to each of our faculty and staff to help us all communicate and connect well from the start. If I had 72 copies, I would give them to all our students, but we can teach the principles as we train each new group of students.
What we teach these students will influence an untold number of lives throughout the world as our graduates begin serving in their various communities, and it would be a privilege to teach them communication/connection skills as a part of their dental training. It is definitely a needed skill in the health professions.
34 puneel // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:22 pm
I would use this book to learn how to build a multi-cultural network. First I ll read myself and start connecting people effectively and train group leaders how to do the same by referring to this book. Easy way to duplicate..
35 Wade // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:23 pm
Currently my team and I are subscribers of Maxwells monthly audio release and attending one of his speaking engagements on April 16th. I would pass the books on to the leaders in our organization and suggest for them to use the knowledge gained to influence their organizations whether it is church, business, or through friendships.
36 Heather Campos // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:23 pm
I would use the books to help my Team National team build their belief. I am working with several people that are down and out and have joined my Team National business with the HOPE for a better tomorrow for all of their friends, loved ones, and even strangers! We are going to help change the nation and restore HOPE in the American People!

“people don’t care how much you know,
until they know how much you care….”
I would definitely keep a copy fir myself, as I gladly admit that you can never grasp enough knowledge in the field of relationships…
I would then give copies to the president, vice-president, and warehouse/delivery driver if our locally-owned wholesale distribution start-up company. As we are in out first full year of business, and constantly facing the trials and tribulations that are typical with a new business, we sometimes stray away from the basic foundation of why we do what we do. Lately, things have really been getting extra-tense at work, as we’ve been coming into busy season with all of our vendor early-buys coming up… I feel like we could all use a realignment in our purpose a motivational reminder of how to connect with the very people that are keeping us in business and grow our personal relationships with our customer-base (while in turn growing our loyalty-base as an added bonus). I would also give the rest of the books to our top customers, as a sign of appreciation, and so that they could be reminded if their importance with us and the intertwined success that could be multilplied by strengthening our foundations in relationships and connecting with one another.
For, isn’t it the little things in life done with great love that make the ultimate differences??
thanks and I look forward to having this opportunity to learn and share faithful life-lessons with those in my life.

I am an independent Insurance Agent. I work with business leaders, CEO, COO, and the like. I have specific clients and prospects I would give them to and ask each of them to read it and give me feedback of how EFEC ideas can and will impact their business productivity, their relationships within the organization, their relationships outside of their organization, and how it will affect their personal lives. I would then use that information to grow both my relationship with them and I would learn how they apply the principles and hopefully apply them to my own life.
39 Nelson I. Matos // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:25 pm
With a case of the 24 copies, I would keep one for myself, then collaberate with my campus minister to administrate book discussion group team sessions across campus to spread the great ideas of effective communication. As young adults it would be great to spread this timely information as we prepare to enter the work force in our various fields. Instilling this great piece of effective communication ideas will help build our character and foundation in christ in today’s rather ineffective communicating global community.

41 Barry W. // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:25 pm
As the cubmaster of a cub scout pack, I would share this with my fellow scout leaders. I believe leadership begins at a young age and I think this would be a great gift for our scout volunteer leaders- their example to young people cannot be understated.

What better way to use these books than give them to the very people who work on communication… Toastmasters. As I’ve learned over the last few years, communication is vital to success. After reading Mr. Maxwell’s book, I no longer think about the world in terms of communication; I see the world in connections.
Toastmasters is an amazing non-profit organization so I plan to share these books between my club, area, division, and district Toastmasters. Each book would contain a log inside and so we can see how many people we can connect with just 24 books… Instead of a Geocache, lets have a Connectcache!
Thank you!

Hi John,
Phenomenal idea – I own most of your material (books, Audio, and Video) what I learned has allowed me to grow as a person, and to help me to develop others.
I am giving the opportunity to go into a leagership/management position as a Sales Manager and one of the things I intend to do is to connect with them, and then hopefully influence them to connect with others (coworkers, customers, etc).
I am looking forward for the opportunity to win your book.
Sincerely

I will give a copy to my pastor, my leader in intern church community.
then I will give one copy to the library of the Department of Psychology at my university.
one copy for my friend who admire John C Maxwell.
hmm, surely I will keep one for myself.
How about the rest of those books ? I think I will just give it away to my friends or others who really need this great book to fill up their days and i think, for their future.
Unfortunately, I’m not from USA or Canada.

I am a professor at a small Christian college. I would give a copy to a few select students who are graduating next month, and give the others to our faculty and administrators. I can’t imagine a better use for the books than giving them to students going into ministry, and those who are training and equipping them.
48 Renee Dubriel // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:27 pm
I would donate the other 23 copies to my college and keep one for myself to read
49 Michael Hanna // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:28 pm
I want to maximize the effectiveness of these books by ensuring that people not only read them, but implement them to realize the associated benefits. Here’s how:
Give away 8 free copies to aspiring young leaders: 4 within our local Church and 4 within our local community (through high schools or community center). By accepting the book, they are committing to read it, implement select principles and report back the results in a short essay or presentation.
Based on their submissions, one person from each group of 4 will will win 6 more books to pass on as they please. Now they will naturally pass it on with a personal testimony!
With the remaining 4 books, I will keep one for myself and give away 3 at the next youth event or motivational speech I’m invited to present.
50 Ken // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:28 pm
I would use them in two groups. The ten man management team that I work with is close to wrapping up the Developing the Leader within in You book. This would be a perfect book to go into next since we are having issues around connecting across our 24/7 business and the various shifts inside of that business. Second I would give it to the 9 teachers that work with a book club that I have been starting up at our church that works with the college in our town. I have met a few of the business majors and pitched the idea but have not settled on a book to use as a kickoff and from what I have read and know of this book it would be a perfect compliment to their studies.
51 Alan Sloas // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:29 pm
With 24 copies of Everyone Communicates, Few Connect, I could spread the knowledge. Six to leaders I work with in the states, six to leaders I work with in Canada, six to leaders at church, five to youth who will be our future leaders, and one for me of course.
52 bryan hopper // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:29 pm
I would give 23 to my pastor who has started a city pastors fellowship that meets every quarter across denominational lines to pray for our city/region and have all the different pastors from different churches and denominations all growing in what God has called them to do…communicate! And as a young preacher…I’d keep one copy for myself!
53 Amy Antonucci // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:29 pm
I will share them with my students. They are all adult ages, and they come here to make a career for themselves. (We are a career-oriented school.) I am a member of a faculty team that makes an effort to teach the students soft-skills even though those skills rarely make the curriculum, and these books will definitely help!
54 Hal // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:30 pm
I would use them with my teaching staff to foster a better method of connecting with students, staff, and parents.
55 D`on // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:30 pm
I would use them as a training series for my Mary Kay unit + give them to my husband’s staff at the Lighthouse Rescue Mission to use for staff training to work with their drug/alcohol recovery program and homeless clients that are trying to get their lives back on track.
56 Joshua Kleckner // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:30 pm
I am 20 years old. I could use one of the cases to give away books to my peers. One thing that my generation lacks is the how-to on communication skills. We live surrounded by lies and quick fixes and I think this could help my generation by sharing the truths of communication instead of a bandaid fix we have been frequently shown
57 Josh // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:30 pm
I would pay it forward.
Honestly, I take one for myself and read it first. Then I would give 23 to a close friend that I know would value the information. I would ask him to read it and then give 22 to someone else who would benefit from the book. And on and on until the all 24 books had been given strategically to individuals with a desire to connect, not just communicate.
58 Channing Francis // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:30 pm
I would walk through them with my church’s staff this summer, do a life group for college\career age students this fall and in the spring, and possibly a third life group in Summer 2011.
I would retire the resource by asking everyone to seek God about someone they should give the book to and then ask they place them in the hands of others.
A leadership team, 2 (maybe 3) life group sessions, and 20 people that we are led to.
59 Wendy Brown // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:30 pm

I am overseeing the small groups of our youth ministry at my church. This past year, God really started to shift my thinking about ministry and it has made such a huge difference in my life. He has given me a new heart for discipleship. So, I would use a case of those books to disciple my young small group leaders, train them, and teach them how to connect with those around them. I have a huge passion to raise up new leaders and disciples of Jesus and this book would help me achieve that goal!

I would use 24 copies of “Everyone Communicates, Few Connect” to improve the effectiveness of the University of Missouri Dance Marathon Leadership Team. I serve as the Public Relations Director, and understand how important it is for teams of leaders to connect with one another. Our Main Event (a celebration of college students’ fundraising efforts over the past year) is not until next March of 2011, but our team of 24 motivated college kids could really benefit from the words of John C. Maxwell. We are working on behalf of the Children’s Miracle Network and University of Missouri Children’s Hospital to motivate our campus and community, and make them aware of our purpose. A major part of communicating what Mizzou Dance Marathon is all about is being able to connect with each other. The more effective we are as a leadership team, the better our results and the more support we can give to families in Mid-Missouri. Since our number of team members is exactly 24, this giveaway would go a long way in helping us get organized, motivated, and connected as a team of college students working toward a common goal of improving the lives of children and families affected by disease and terminal illness.
64 Deacon Bradley // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:32 pm
I would use two of the books within my own company (10 people) to develop our culture and our outreach within the Austin startup community
I would use two more to do something similar amongst my young marrieds group at church.
The other twenty: I would pick my 10 favorite fellow christian personal finance bloggers and give them each two. One would be for them to improve their own communication and improve how they get the word out about Christian personal finance. The other would be for them to host a give-a-way on their blog to draw in more people for them to practice their new skills!
The end result would be an improved community in my personal, business, and church spheres.
So fun! Can’t wait to read it!
65 Brian McLean // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:33 pm
I would keep one for myself, and share the remainder with ministers and associates in my city.
66 Eric // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:34 pm
Interesting that I just read this after purchasing ten copies for my Leadership Team.
After reading some excerpts from the book I was hooked. If I had a case of “Everyone Communicates, Few Connect?” I would share with the next level management team as well as other key team members. My first goal will be to share with my direct reports and have discussion twice a month.
I work in healthcare where connecting with individuals is so vital to the success of our business…patients and staff alike. My primary goal of this book would be to use as a catalyst to communicate Jesus to those in our local organization. In a non-Christian healthcare environment, this can be challenging. We live out Christ everyday through serving our patients but fail to put two and two together.
I am anticipating that God will do a great work through your book Mr. Maxwell.
67 Anthony Imperiale // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:35 pm
With 24 copies of another great on leadership concepts from you, I would share the copies and do a book study with our small company of 14 store managers, 5 office staff, and 5 upper management staff. We will then pass it down the chain of command through the other 100+ combined members of the store management teams and create an improved communication culture and help move our business to the next degree – 212.

I’d give a few to some of my “supervisors” who place profit over employees. Then I’d give copies to people on my mentorship team for a youth shelter I volunteer with so that all involved parties could benefit. The rest would be given to close friends at our church, or friends who are moving forward in life.

I have no fancy intriguing wonderfully made youtubed video….. but this is what I do have. I have two groups of 10 women in two women’s prisons that I do bible studies with. I have been reminding them that they have a purpose! That God can and plans to use them wherever they are! That He knows that they’re in prison…. and that He even needs mighty warriors there showing others the face of Jesus and telling of their wonder of Him. What would I do with 24 books? Give one to each lady, and the other 4 would go to the teachers of the groups. God can prepare and train and equip and make leaders…. even when held behind the bars of a prison. My goodness, what better place?
Regardless, I plan to purchase a book myself. And cannot wait to read it!
Blessings, dear friend!

As a single mother, I have benefitted immensely from John Maxwell’s leadership materials. They have equipped me to raise my son into a Godly man, manage the teen years with my daughters; deal with the issues of divorce, personal growth and healing. I have successfully ‘lead from the middle’ in 2 offices of employment implementing these practices. It is my dream to lead a hand-picked group sharing these skills with them in order that change may take place at an even greater pace in our community.

I am a worship leader and love all your books and use many of your thoughts and info to deal with my band members. I would love to read your new book and be able to share it with my band members.
Thanks for being a part of my own journey of leadership.
Blessings,

There are two groups of people I’d give it to:
1. the evangelizing team in my church- this would help them connect with people from outside of the church.
2. friends in my uni class; I believe that teachers have an enormous influence on students’ future and need to know how to communicate with them efficiently.

I would offer a free class on Leadership and Communication for the church and community. Each student receives a free copy of this book (while they last), and they would still need to go and purchase a copy of the 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership and a copy of 360 Degree Leadership.

I would give all but one to anyone in my organization that is on a path to becoming a better leader to have substantial impact in our community. And the one would be for myself of coarse, at least till I’d read it then past it on as well.

What an awesome idea!
First of all I would thank you for the opportunity to share your books with others. The first thing I would do is hand out 10 copies to congress.
Ha ha !
Boy do we need to learn how to connect. Other 5 would go to a womens shelter, 5 to random college students, and 4 to people I serve with in ministry. I can easily hand out a 100, including handing one out to our life group in Kenya. Hooray!
I think that wraps it up. Love the idea and thought, who knows I may just do it anyway. God will provide the way I’m sure.
God bless you Dr. Maxwell !

It is my responsibility and priviledge to work with a team of people… helping them to stretch out of their comfort zones, reach for their dreams and become leaders. I would use this case of books to empower each one to become the person God has gifted them to be and to “pay it forward” as they grow their own teams and in turn help their people establish and accomplish their goals. This would multiply the gift of a case of books many times over. The total number of people who would learn how to connect, not just communicate, would just keep growing exponentially!
81 Andrew Toburen // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:43 pm
I would distribute them to my Students In Free Enterprise class here at John Brown University. SIFE’s aim is to influence the world using Business Models. We do a lot of work with the less fortunate. However the students in SIFE are learning about connection in a real world environment. All of our projects involve at some level connection business professionals and connection with those in need. Reading about connection while being involved in it personally, I feel, would magnify the impact obtained.

John,
Thanks for the opportunity to win these books!
There are a two things I’d do with the books:
1. Give a copy to my wife and son (he’s 20, never to young to learn about leadership)
2. I’ve led a men’s group at my church for almost 7 years, I’d give copies to all the men and for the next 6 months review different chapters of the book together. The goal will not be to just read the book and have a nice conversation about it but to lead the group and understand how they will apply what they’ve read into their everyday lives.
Thanks again for the opportunity.

First of all I would be so excited to win something that I would already liike to have, your book. I am a teacher and I love books on communication. This would be a great opportunity to invite other teachers to be in a book club to read, Everyone Communicates, Few Connect. The sharing on a professional level would be beneficial but would also be beneficial on a personal level. Our school could use some moral boosting and this would be a great vehicle to get people together for the greater good.
Thank you for the opportunity to start something good that could lead to something even better!

Wow! Thanks for this opportunity! My husband and I are serving as Senior Pastors in Burkburnett, TX. We began in November 2009, and are LOVING it! My husband is very administratively gifted, and has spent a large portion of our time here equipping our leaders. He has used several of your books as tools to do just that! I know he would pass these books out to our Department Leaders, and work through the material, chapter by chapter. Once the Leaders have completed this training, he would then have each Department Leader train their leadership team on the material! I KNOW WE COULD BENEFIT TREMENDOUSLY!!!
85 Ginny Compton // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:47 pm
I would give them to my pastor, James Wright of Maranatha Fellowship Church of St. Albans, WV, and let him give them to whomever he felt led by the Holy Spirt to give them to.
86 Dustin // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:48 pm
I would create a pay it forward type book exchange. I would give the book to 23 of my friends, family, and co workers with one condition. The book may only stay in their possession for 30 days, at that time they must finish reading the book, sign their name in the cover, then pass it on to another person with the same conditions as before. This way the book can touch many souls and help many people. I would also read a copy and then pass it on. I think it would be great to see how far the books would go and who’s lives they would touch.
87 Debbie Kay // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:48 pm
I would give the books to single parents and others I meet through my ministry that would not be able to buy the book themselves. There are so many that are looking for ways to change their circumstances for the better. They need a helping hand to get there.
88 Trevor Foster // Apr 5, 2010 at 4:49 pm
Hello,
I would use the copies 1 for myself & the rest for my leadership team on the TEAM. I know it will make onto our system & there will be 10 of thousands of people buying that book & many lives will be changed for the greater. Because we all know that John is an awesome writer about leadership. Thank for your consideration, have a great day & may God Bless.

I am a young adult mentor. I am currently starting up a three phase workshop program working with youth from 7th grade through college. I would give a copy to each student as a study guide and workbook, upon completion they would have to get their own copy to have for future reference. I teach from my “Coach For Life” program, “Success For Teens”, and a program I put together from reading four of John’s books: 21 Irrefutable Laws, Failing Forward, The Difference Maker, and Put Your Dream to the Test, that I call Leadership Through Effective Communication.
Keep bringing it John….the youth need this type of work.

HI! Thank you so much for this wonderful giveaway!! Before knowing about this I was thinking about whom I knew would benefit from this! ~Since I already ordered a copy for myself on Amazon.ca~
1. I would love a signed-copy for my own medical doctor.
2. I would love to give away 10 more to his staff at the clinic.
3. I would love to give away a copy to the lady at our local postal office.
4. I would love to mail a copy to a friend in a city two hours away.
5. I would love to mail a copy to a friend who lives in Germany.
6. I would love a copy to keep for myself because my four-year-old daughter, Chloe, loves to flip through all my books. I am not able to read any books until she has flipped through them. So having an extra copy would involve her and keep her on the track of good learning.
7. There are two other doctors that share (rent) the same space as my medical doctor and I would love to give them each one.
8. I would donate three to the local library.
9. I would give one to a friend to owns and operates the local Bigway grocery store.
10. I would donate three copies to the local Grandma’s Den, a type of Salvation Army.

Mr. Maxwell,
God bless you!
Congratulations on the success of your latest book and thank you for this opportunity to win 24 copies of Everyone Communicates, Few Connect. I would share these books with my fellow students attending the School of Ministry classes at my home church. We are currently in the Leadership II training class and upon completion will be moving into positions of ministry/leadership as God leads each of us individually. These books would also be given to the current teachers and leaders of the training classes, and the pastors of our church. As a Health Coach, my passion is in helping people, to live their life to the fullest, in optimal health, be it physically, spiritually or financially. In order to help others, you have to be able to connect, so I do feel that those in my circle of influence would appreciate and benefit from your writing. Further, I would suggest to those that do receive this gift, to keep giving by passing it on to one more person. Again, thank you for this awesome opportunity, and I do hope that I am one of the chosen to receive and share your books. I don’t have any quirky, extremely funny or creative ideas, just a heart to serve others and a willingness to share.

My heart rises & falls with Youth Ranch Ministry. Through attending a clinic at Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch last year it has become my ministry to support & find resources for others who are also inspired to open local ranches & to connect with kids & families through horses. I believe this book would be so beneficial to help them connect with the kids coming to their ranches & to help foster a breakdown of the walls that are put up in a heart. It would also be very helpful for them to lend out to volunteers coming to help at their ranches.
I would send a copy of this book to each as an encouragement, starting with the most recently opened ranches until supplies ran out. I would also promote it on my twitter account as a resource for leaders & volunteers.
Thank you for the potential opportunity.

I am a member of a volunteer organization that serves our local communities by educating our citizens, children and adults, on how to prepare for and react to disasters. We also provide free defense classes to women. Our volunteers come from wide variety of career fields, but many of them are police officers. Communication skills that serve us in our respective careers may not always translate correctly in the volunteer education world. It would help all of us to learn and implement techniques that allow us to speak effectively to all audiences.

Hello,
I am a Christian and a junior in high school. If I were given the opportunity I would read one myself and give a copy of the book to each person in my school’s Student’s for Christ Christian Club. I feel that if we all learned and understood how to create and change, then we could change our whole school. We could go out spreading the word of God, allowing him to use us to bring others close to him who are not, and connecting them with the teachings of Christianity. I believe that we can really have a positive effect on our school, but we first need a little direction on how to approach this through the use of your book Everyone Communicates, Few Connect. I would very much appreciate this is I were chosen. Thank you so much!

Everyone Communicates Few Connect is such a great resource to help people connect that if I were to win a case of the books, I would see how many people I could get to read the book and apply the information from it in their daily life.
To do this I would create a tracking system. I would uniquely number each copy of the book and then pass out each one to someone in my network of family, friends, and business contacts with the instructions that they have to read the book as soon as possible and then comment on the web about how they have benefited from using what the book teaches, then they would have to pass it along to someone they know with the same instructions.
I would add a page to my website to tack the movements of the 24 copies and capture the comments and experiences of the readers along the way.
It would be a lot of fun to set some goals for the travels of the books, like to see which copy gets read by the most people; to see if one or more of the copies can travel around the world; to see if we could hit some target for the total number of people that this case of books influenced in a year, like 500 people.
Really sounds like a fun project! I hope you pick me.
Thanks,
-Earl

I love all of your books and share them with my friends. I have an awesome group of friends on Facebook, so I would share it with them. I would post the information in my status and have them write 50 words or less what the title means to them and why they would like the book. Although, I would give one to a a college friend that just got her CPA and a promotion. I just introduced her to your books and she is a non-traditional student that worked really hard to earn her CPA.
I am a teacher and trainer, so sharing knowledge is what love doing. I hope to be a winner:-). Thanks for reading my post.

OH MY GOODNESS!! WOW! This is exactly the opportunity God would give me as this point in my life! My husband lost his contracts 26 months ago when the economy started going sour. Last week I went to the mall and purchased the book, I had to have it. There was only one left in the store and they found it for me. I read it this week end and just got home from sharing what a wealth of positive information that book offers with a friend I have known since I graduated from high school. We just shared for two hours why some people connect and some just never do… When I left the book store I was so glad to have it to read this week end and also to actually see my name in it! Maybe it’s childlike for me to be so excited but I really couldn’t wait for the book to come out, especially after participating in it. I want to give everyone I know this book, not just because I can say I participated in it but so many people I know just do not connect! If I would be so blessed to receive “24″ books I beleive I would sign each one (since I participated in it!!) and write that I also expect the book to be passed on after it is read to another person who would benefit from it. I would like each person to sign it and give it with the same expectation that it would be signed that they read it and gave it. Since I have one, the first person I would give one to is my 86 year old dad!! His birthday is June 11. He has been my biggest mentor in life and has always made me believe that “I can anything I’m big enough to do”!! He’s always encouraged me and given me the best of advice. (He’s the only one who could keep the book, I know he wouldn’t want to give it away, lol)!! My three children would definately get one. My son is a police officer, he surely would find it a good read!! My oldest daughter works for Wachovia and is a hair dresser on the side, you know people tell their hair dressers “everything”, she would benefit from it also!! Who wouldn’t?
That’s why in an earlier comment I stated I wanted to give everyone one for Christmas.
I know more than 24 people but I would be very selective about the distribution. The lady I just met with for two hours is like a mom to me, I worked with her right out of high school at DEC (digital equip corp) and she will be 73 this month! She has been (other than my dad) the most positive person in my life. She would get great joy out of reading this book and she also has a number of people she could pass it on to…(after all these years she is my winter neighbor who lives across the street from me, God is so good!) My husbands boss and friend who blessed us by hiring my husband when we closed our store would get one. He saved our life by giving my husband a job that he loves to do. He’s a land developer and I know he would also love the book. I read most of the book out loud to my husband so we’ll hold on to the one I have, my youngest daughter can read it and we’ll keep it for our future grandkids! xo I know in this economy it is such a positive source of information that can only help who ever reads it. If my husband was working I would have ordered a number of books when I bought mine. I plan to give this book this year for birthdays and Christmas. I enjoy people, of all ages, and most of the time focus on others, I’m fortunate that it comes natural for me. But I see in my daily life that a lot of people just don’t. I feel they are missing out on a richness that I wouldn’t trade for the world. This book has come out at a time in life that will make it easy to share. I would love the chance to share 24 copies sooner than I can buy them!! Another person who I would send one to is a minister of Ecclesia Ministries in Boston, MA! Because of this ministry, my 46 year old brother is sober and attending college. It’s never to late and we should never give up on people! He would get one too!!
I look forward to sharing the book either way, it was a blessing for me to stumble upon the opportunity I got to participate in it. God bless you Dr. Maxwell for sharing your gift of communicating. I look forward to reading many more of your books. Gratefully, Barb

3. I would consider content for text ref in Emergent leader units of competency and training packages to further empower and inspire and grow our future generation of leaders.

Being in the military, we are given leadership responsibility within a few years of joining. We become trainers, supervisors, section chiefs, and commanders at various points throughout our careers ( sometimes all at once). Unfortunately, we recieve little to no training on true leadership qualities such as how to communicate effectively. I would start by reading 1 copy of the book and applying it in my own workplace, as well as sharing the principles with my coworkers. I would share the books with other mid-level leaders around me. I would subtly teach the principles to the leadership over me as we interact each day. Finally, I would provide the books to professional development seminars, trainers and supervisors at all levels within my unit and the units around me to continually improve our interaction thoughout our base and community ( since our base IS our community overseas).

I would actually go to our local high school and do a talk on leadership, communication and relating. Have it worked into a bullying section or communication segment of the cirriculum and give a copy to each of the students and teachers that were part of that talk or workshop and allow them to see that they can develop the skills to be great kids!

I am a public middle school principal who is challenged each day with the after effects of strained communication: teacher-teacher, teacher-parent, administrator-teacher, etc. A key body within the faculty is the Leadership Team which is made up of a dozen representatives of various sub sets of the faculty. To be able to share such a valuable book with these key campus leaders would be a blessing as I believe our reading of the book together would serve as a catalyst for improving our entire school community through authentic communication.

I would absolutely love to bring this into our HR group and start a new training with it for the managers of our company. another great idea would be to implement it into a group at my sons middle school…it is NEVER to early to start helping them become leaders.

I would use them for my Ladies Bible Study Group at an office in Mesquite Texas. We would also use them in our Life Group (small group in our church-Hope Fellowship, Frisco, TX.) Give some to my sister who is co-owner of a Keller-Williams Real Estate office in Norman, OK. I would also give 1 to each of my nieces and nephews as well as 1 to our daughter and son-in-law! Thanks for the opportunity to think about this and for your wonderful work! God bless you!

I would keep one, give some to my mentors in the faith, and give others to people I desire to disciple. I would toss them the ball, and see if they toss it back. If they won’t read, they won’t lead.

I am a volunteer with Boy Scouts of America on both a local and national level. This is the perfect book to share with young men and women that are in the scouting program (yes, young women are in Scouting, the Venturing program offers a great deal for women) as well as with adult leaders working with both youth and adults.
I am also a real estate agent in Edmond, OK. Every realtor I know talks about communicating with their clients – sounds like your new book would be just the thing to help us (realtors) communicate more effectively with not just our clients but everyone we deal with including our spouses.

I speak professionally, and I always give books away as part of my presentations to help stress the importance of always reading. Reading books is one of the most important things I do to improve myself. Great books are worth more than money, because they develop great people.

Hello Dr. Maxwell and Thomas Nelson,
I am a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Chicago IL. I am the Facilitator of a dynamic new Ministry and Bible Study called Leadership, Stewardship & Wealth Building!
Your Leadership Bible has been our main tool offering examples of Leadership. In the introduction you state “The crying need of the Church Today is Leadership.” I would like to add ECFC to that process. I sincerely believe that this is the foundation to Growing our Ministry so that we can all be better communicators. As a Member of the United Methodist Men I would also offer this book to the Men as we need to be a better and more effective and influential part of our Church.
As we will be expanding our Summer Bible Study Program I feel that also sharing this information with our Elementary, High School Students and College Students we will start a movement to answering God’s Call to Leadership by learning how to connect with others! I serve as a Parent Assistant (Green Belt) for our Martial Arts Ministry under Master Maceo Pembroke of East Sea Martial Arts. We have this program at our Church working with over 60 children from Little Dragons to Adult Classes. I know that this book can also be effectively used in this Ministry!
I have to add that I am so excited about this book as I also follow you on Facebook and Twitter!
Beginning with our Pastor, Dr. Jon E. McCoy, The United Methodist Men, Martial Arts Ministry and our LS&WB Bible Study, We will use, read and reread this book to not only use in our personal life but to also inspire the value in others through teaching and mentoring!
Our continued Growth is required as we connect and further each others potential with proper communication. This way we can each discover the Leader within us. Personally I will say that reading this book will add to my skills as an effective communicator will help me as a Husband, Father and Son!
Thank You,
John Buchanan

John,
As a dedicated reader of your books, I would pass these books to all of my downlines with the following instructions: 1. Read this book twice through 2. Sign your name in the back cover and then pass it on with the same instructions. 3. Purchase your own copy for yourself to keep. 4. Recommend that your downlines continue to connect with John Maxwell on Leadership for further resources.
A Maxwell book is worthless on a shelf, it needs to be in the hands of a reader.

Our men’s group is currently going through the 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership and loving it. I would give copies to each of our men and we would make it our next book study.

24 books equals 24 ways to improve a life-established and young leaders will want this book. I will pay it forward by establishing a professional mentoring group- matching/assigning the books to a mentor and future leader.

Leadership changes are happening at our church, I believe that the concept of connecting is important at all levels. Everyone needs to understand that communicating on its own isn’t enough. Each leader would be given a copy and encouraged to apply the principles outlined.

Dear John,
In one of your Maximum Impact Club lessons, I was inspired by your idea of giving away good books to those whom we care about. I have recently started to do this. Now, in my company I am establishing a corporate club for communication and leadership development and practice. This gift from you would be a great gift to members of the newly established club members to tell them how important “connecting” is. I am sure this would inspire them to become better communicators, leaders, and most importantly “connecting agents”.
Best regards,

Wow – so many want to give this to Pastors! Great idea! I would announce a “contest” and give away these books to the first 24 sponsors of our AIDS orphan ministry in South Africa.

I would use 6 copies to use as a study group for my church board. Give a presentation on book to the Chamber of Commerce to give to local community leaders and have a give-away of 6 copies; Present 12 copies to seminary students at Earlham College and 12 copies to Church of the Brethren Seminary — Richmond, IN
143 Iris Paul // Apr 5, 2010 at 6:31 pm
I would give some to coworkers and supervisors because good communication is important from the way down and way up. As I am currently participating in a leadership working group with our headquarters’ staff, I would share some copies to be given away to staff at headquarters too. I also would share with my sisters ( I have 3 close to me; the other two live overseas) so they also improve their communication skills at work and in their personal lives. Because you are offering so many books for free, I would like to share some books with my daughter’s school teachers. I strongly believe teachers play an important role in children’s future and both teachers and students will benefit from your writings.

In January, my wife and I began worshiping at a new church. This church was once a lot larger than it is now, but in the last few years, 60 families moved away and that changed everything.
We also live in New Jersey, which is considered to be a “ministry graveyard” by organizations such as Campus Crusade for Christ. It’s very hard to have an affect on the community as a church in New Jersey.
Lately, it’s really been on the pastor’s heart how to reach more people in the community. We live in a very congested area, and there’s no way that our church and other churches in the area contain all the “elect” in this and surrounding towns.
If I won the case, I would naturally take a copy for myself, and give the rest to my pastor. I would recommend him read one, then pass them out to the associate and student pastors, the elders and other church leaders or to the pastors and elders of other churches in the area.

I am a new Senior Pastor (I’ll be ordained in May). I’d give each of my new Deacons a copy (12); I’d give each pastor in the regional denominational association (7); I’d give one to each pastor in the other churches in town (4); and I’d give one to my wife to make sure that I’m keeping good lines of connection and communication open (1 – but a REALLY important “1″). – Warden, WA

I am an Administrator at Transition/ Substance Abuse Faclity in Florida. We are contracted with the State of Florida to provide, housing, programming and counselling to inmates that are within two years of being released back into society. I have recently inititated a Brother to Brother Mentoring Program among the inmates so they will be better equipped to mentor each other in times of crisis and other situtations where intervention may be necesary for them to stay focused and remain on the right track. It is my goal to impart to the mentors the ability to think “beyond the door” and teach this thinking to their peers. A “beyond the door” train of thought will allow them to be released back into society with a real game plan and knowledge to adjust as necessary. I would love to be able to give each one of the inmates that have volunteered to be mentors for other inmates at the facility, a book of their own to read.

I am part of the Celebrate Recovery program at Elevate Life Church in Frisco, Texas and I would give each one of the girls in my step study a book. Fifteen women to be exact because I believe that communication is key to any relationship and many failed marriages and friendships are caused by not knowing how to be real and relevant. The remaining 9 books would go to our 9th-12th grade Celebrate Recovery program that was just started less than a month ago at our church. This book along with the Celebrate Recovery Step Study program will help our young people get it right before they step out into the real world. Our first real communication needs to start with God and from there He can give us His Eyes & His Ears to have His Heart for others. When we learn to be real and transparent with others then they can get a glimpse of Jesus in and through each one of us. A spirit of Excellence not perfection will rise above the chatter and we can begin to really connect with others in a deeper way. God bless you John Maxwell and thank you for heeding the call God has placced on your life. The world is a better place because you are in it!

It would be so great to have access to that many John maxwell books. If I was picked a winner I would first give a copy of the book to my closets friends who is the leader of a Boy Scout team in my neighborhhod, I would also give a copy to my high school basketball coach because he is always looking for ways to grow as a leader. I would give two copies away to the 2 youth pastors we have at our church, because when dealing with youth we all must be able to communicate effectively. I would give a few copies to friends that are executives at their companies..I would give most of the books to my business partners, because when we are meeting new clients and establishing new relationships communication is crucial. I would also give a copy to my little brother who mentors at risk youth in Houston. I would also give a copy to my wife who leads a church group for women. I would give a book to the pastor of my church and to another pastor who I’m very close with..I would also keep a copy of the book myself, because I just love John Maxwell books and I’m much better because he is using his God given ability to the best..All the other books that I have left over would most likely go to my family members and/or friends that are in position of leadership..

I will keep a copy and read it inside out.I will then send the rest by DHL to heads of key Government ministeries in Ghana.Over the years our leaders have ripped our country apart. There are situations where a vilage is deprived of portable drinking water because a minister has stolen the funds. Our roads are bad, education is falling apart. For 53yrs our country come into power just to line their pockets at the expense of the nation. There are many people in position who have not read any book cover to cover since leaving school and all the tell us is policies upon policies without any real impact. I hope this book will help our membersof Government to learn to conect with the ordinary people.

I would keep pne to read and for the family library. I would donate one for my church library. I would have one for my work success library. then each of the rest, I will use as a promoton for the top producers of my business and gove to the top 20 percent of the producers.
I will not throw perals before swine. I will not give these to the most neaded. they typically will not use it. I will give it to producers that are working on changing the lives of themselves and others. That is why it will go to the producers.

We just started a new campus in the inner city of Corpus Christi…the roughest area of town. We are doing it out of a Charter School whose mission is to educate students with no other hope of going to school due to being kicked out of them.
Goal One would be to give everyone on staff one copy.
Goal Two would be to find churches ministering in the area and give their pastor a copy to initiate good will.

I would use this opportunity to bring together a group of students from my University and discuss the power of connecting with them. Then, I would prepare a group of study once a month at least and invite you as a speaker for a session/seminar held within the University I attend, which is based on Christian beliefs. Your visit here would definitely enrich our lives.
157 Mathew Accurso // Apr 5, 2010 at 7:43 pm
PASS IT ON!! 24 students would recieve a copy, not just to read but to mobilize an entire campus into action. My club and I would form small groups in which we would each formulate a 1 hour presentation on the book, from there we would choose the most dynamic presentation and present it to the Palmer Florida Campus plus the surrounding community.
John Maxwell would then be so impressed by the massive call to action from Port Orange that he’d have to come down and speak at our school!
158 JoAnne Lutat // Apr 5, 2010 at 7:47 pm
I’m in the middle of the book now, taking lots of notes and learning so much. If endowed with 24 free copies, I’d have to offer and facilitate a class to those in the church congregation and the community who would like to read and discuss the insight John offers. Everyone needs this information, and anyone who struggles with connecting and communicating needs to know: that they absolutely can learn how to do better; that they can overcome the obstacles they’ve faced; and that they can succeed where they have previously failed. I may offer the class whether I win the books or not!
159 Kiana Davis // Apr 5, 2010 at 7:49 pm
Hello
If I were given the books, I would give them to my students. Currently I am an ABE instructor at an alternative school, and I am striving to encourage young people to read. My students are high school drop outs 16-21. They have many barriers in their lives, and I am encouraging the students to read 30 minutes a day silently in class. Many of my students say they don’t read unless they are locked up, which is so heart breaking.
I have just started a reading contest. Students are required to read a novel and then write an essay. If they complete the assignment- they will earn a prize!
If I were given the books, I could start a reading group and I will have enough copies for all the students!!! I would also give them away to the students.
Last month I found copies of Russells Simons book at the dollar store. I purchased all the copies they had, and the students were so excited to get his book!
I am sure the books will help me give them a passion for reading!
Thank you!

If I received a case of this book, I would choose 23 people who live outside the US & Canada who I think would get the most from the book and mail one to them. In exchange, I would want them to share something with me about where they are from and about themselves.
I enjoy connecting with people and ever since discovering close relatives in the Czech Republic, have an interest in learning about other cultures. And since this contest is not able to be for those outside the US & Canada (which I understand), why not use the opportunity to give them something in exchange for sharing & connecting with me?
And after I read and take notes from my own book, I’m likely to donate it to my local library. I believe in sharing rather than letting things collect dust.

Since my beginning with Primerica five years ago, I have been exposed to the leadedship training you put together on videotape for the first edition of the 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership and have built my liibrary around all of your books, as well as those of the late Jim Rohn, Brian Tracy, Zig Ziglar, Chris Widener, Tony Robbins and many others. Every occasion for a recognition to my team includes a book that will help them raise the lid on their skills and I would continue to bring the best to the best if I am selected to receive a set of these books. Only in a business like Primerica do you learn how much there really is to know about working effectively with other people and helping each and everyone of them achieve their true potential.

Read Maxwell’s book (21 Laws) over vacation this weekend and was struck! Struck by how many great tips that I already used and, more importantly, how many great tips I can improve on. Also, I had no notions of Maxwell’s background but was pleasantly surprised to read of his leadership in churches. As a Christian this was great to read.
What would I do with a case of his new book? Easy. I work for one of, no, THE best company in the world. We are lead by some great leaders from our President down to our National Sales Manager. They have lead us to be the world’s largest track and field equipment manufacturer in the world and now with the addition of Porter Athletic, we are the industry leader in basketball and volleyball units.
To help us move forward and continue our leadership in our industry it will be up to the middle management and the future managers and leaders of our company to help us forge the path.
I would take the copies and give them to our up and coming leaders (including myself) at work. This could be a real catalyst to help us move forward in these difficult economic times and really motivate us to do more good with our design applications, our safety concerns and our philanthropic dreams.
No matter what, thank you for this opportunity.

What an exciting opportunity! And to be led by one of the greatest leaders, even more amazing!
I work in sales and and am the frontline for my company. I also run my own social media consulting business, helping small business owners grow and manage their social media plans.
I meet with people all day long who are stressed out, overwhelmed, discouraged, and have lost hope. I think that living your life with Passion, Purpose, and Hope is vital to everything in your life. If I could share this book with just 24 people that could use some tools and hope and inspiration, that is the greatest gift I have.
I have a passion for helping people and being an inspiration and advocate leader for others. Being able to help people grow and succeed in their business and helping them find their goals and Dreams back is one of the greatest gifts that I can give. I strive to do this everyday!
I would share these books with all those small business owners I come across daily that I consult with to help grow their businesses.
Thank you for your inspiration and hope and opportunity to take part in this!!!

Today is the perfect day for this question. A co-worker called me on ineffective communication today. In a mildly frustrated voice, she ended one of her concerns with “You’re a communicator! You know how to say things! So why don’t you….” (Sigh… Good question! “Why don’t I practice what I know?!”)
If I were to win 24 books, I would start by
writing a personal apology to my co-worker inside one of the books and giving it to her. I would then give a copy to everyone in my office so that we can work together at improving our communication skills.
I would give one to my pastor, to each of my personal heroes, and to friends in various leadership roles because their effectiveness, though great, would improve with reading this book.
I would forward a copy to my favorite local radio talk show host, Gary Doyle, who reads a lot, does frequent book reviews and interviews the authors when possible. He is a great communicator, covers a large listening area and would, without question, love the book. I would offer him a second book to use as a call-in give away.
At an upcoming conference/seminar I would promote the book and use a few as prizes or ‘give aways’.
I can’t imagine I’d have any left by this time, but if there was, I would keep them in my ‘gift stash’ for a moment when it feels like someone needs a pick-me-up and give it as a gift, because I love to give gifts!

First I must say how wonderful it is for Mr. Maxwell to share his book with so many for no cost. I have been a avid reader and follower of Mr. Maxwell for many years and probably have most of the books and C.D’s he has written about leadership, including the Maxwell Bible. I have bought multiple copies of many of his publications and works and gave them away to my Team National hostings and friends. I have had the great priveledge to see and hear Mr Maxwell at Team National conventions. Mr Maxwell is aware of the importance we place on reading books and listing to c.d’s in Team National. I would give the books away proudly to my team because I know the book will be a life changer to them and they too would go forward and touch countless lives by having and reading Mr Maxwell’s wisdom and profound message. I commend you for getting the mesage out to so many people. Thanks

I’ve learned to change my ways after reading “Relationships 101″ and “25 Ways To Win With People” but many of the people I work with still need help! I’ll hand out copies to the closest people I deal with on a daily basis. Their wives (and I) thank you!

I would give one to each person on the staff here at the City so that we can continue our Leadership journey that has started in the past few weeks. Being new as the Dir. of HR is important to me to bring many of the concepts I’ve learned over the past twenty years in High Tech to the public sector. I would also share them with my children who are all Thirtysomethings and really need to learn how to connect with their children and their parents in a new way and with their peers at work. 360 degrees of connection all at different lengths of the cord.

I meet with a group of influential youth pastors in our community once a month as a group, I would give each of them a book and go through a chapter a month with them and make sure we’re implementing the principles within the book.
I also work in youth ministry and I’d give half the books to young influencers in high school and college that I believe have a lot of potential both as communicators and leaders. I’d walk through the book with them, and ask that in return they’ll take someone younger than them through the book.
And I’d Tweet about how fired up I am that I won a case of books because Thomas Nelson is the best Publishing Company Ever!!!! I love what you guys are doing under Michael Hyatt!

Easy. I give 8 copies to the most high-ranking, influential people in our non-profit ministry. Then I take the other 16 and send two each to 8 men and women within our organization around the country, with these instructions: Keep one for yourself and take your team through the study. Find one other person within your sphere of influence, give them the second book and challenge them to do the same.

First of all, I would like to say thank you. What an incredible opportunity to share how we value tools in which leaders like Dr. John Maxwell have poured their heart and soul into to help individuals like ourselves. Thank you again.
In order to share the wealth of knowledge to effectively teach and learn I would develop a group at my local church with husbands and wives, why??? Because it all starts at home, our children, our family is a direct relation of what we communicate at home. Thus if we start at the root we can feed, nourish and encourage our families to grow and connect effectively. God Bless and thanks again.

We’re about 1,350 people working on a contract that will be over in 5 years. Most of the people are used to another contractor taking over when one contract is up. However, this time, we’re working ourselves out of a job.
I would give these books to our senior leadership team so they can help the people in their charge understand that communicating and connecting are keys to their future.
Managers also need to understand that it is one of their responsibilities to help equip their people to make and take advantage of the opportunities the company provides. After reading this book, I would hope that the managers understand that leadership is influence, and as we continue to work ourselves out of a job, they’re in the unique position of being able to influence a lot of people to carve out the future they want.

John gave an excellent seminar via Linkadin where several corporations took part. It was a webinar therefore we didn’t have the luxury of interacting with him in person, but the material was excellent. It was too bad we didn’t get outlines of his presentation but we were captivated by his insight on leadership. I would share 23 of these books with my AT&T leadership peers who I know would value the information.
216 Danielle Reyes // Apr 5, 2010 at 11:22 pm
I just got married to the associate youth pastor at our church and if we got a case of the books we would give them to the youth staff to read and also our pastoral staff so that we can effectively lead our county to Christ. I would also use the information in the book for my future organization that I would like to have that will be reaching out to girls in crisis pregnancy. I really respect John Maxwell and love his words on leadership.

Our church staff has been thru much change in the past 3 years…pastors falling to moral failure, leaving because of power struggles, and then many others who have left frustrated with one another. ….the bottom line is that there has not been deep connection, there has been OVER communication and under connection:) so, I would use it for our staff team as a study.
I wouldn’t use the books for………
coasters, cooking, phone books, dance lessons, hula hooping…cuz that would be awkward, or not even for a fly-swatter (even in modes of desperation)….:)

I would use each book as a resource for a leadership community that I’m part of here in Kenya that we have dubbed “THRIVE”-To nurture leaders in any area one is in society.
THRIVE is a brain child of a group of graduates from Maseno University and members of a family called HOLYGAN (Holy Gifted Anointed Nutcases) Ministries whose founding is based on Lev 11:45.
The resources we are using currently revolve around resources we got from the Leadership Summit that is held here in Nairobi yearly the latest being just last year (2009) in August.
Everybody Communicates Few Connect would be a great resource to the team to facilitate the goal and vision of building more effective leaders where we are…not only that but also make the team be better leaders. And would be a foundational as a resource to prepare the team and guests we intend to invite for the next Leadership Summit.
Thanx

I’m an avid fan of reading about/doing whatever it takes to implement and enhance leadership in the workplace. I’d read the book, give it to my superiors, and disseminate copies throughout the United States to my friends who, like me, find themselves in a position to effect organizational change but we’ve been so abused and mis-managed up until now that we don’t have a good example from which to start.
No matter who wins, though, congratulations on the book and I’ll always look forward to seeing you at Christ Fellowship!

I would integrate the lessons of this book (along with 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership) into my monthly training sessions with Partners Worldwide entrepreneurs in Hyderabad, India (55 total). I would then create a contest where those who embrace and practice the principles can share in front of the group (for 90 seconds). The top 10 winners (peer voted) receive a free book.

Good morning everyone and John! At my job, we have a huge gap in communication and leadership. We also have so many young military personnel who need to develop skills, but are not given any or much guidance. I, alone with a few others, have tried giving them advice and motivate them to succeed. I too need that same motivation. We would love to fill in this gap and work them up to become the best officers and enlisted the Air Force has ever seen! John, your books can help do that. We have read a few books of yours already and most if not all of your postings; your words serve as great inspiration for us. I worked with a team of people in my community doing an educational program in our local schools. We make presentations to students enocuraging them to pursue more rigorous courses of study. This is to provide them an opportunity to succeed in their future plans and goals for life. God Bless and thanks for your leadership and willingness to give it away .
We recognize these students for their accomplishments during their senior year of high school.
To have some of these books would be beneficial. I would give them away to presenters so that they could be motivated to better encourage the students and also to make better employees in their workplace.

260 Tony // Apr 6, 2010 at 8:25 am
I meet with two different groups of men, and we gather to build relationships and really trying to connect one with another. For men, I think, that it is hard to connect with another man. We have been turned on or “burned” so many times it is hard to connect and trust. And through these groups we are trying to connect and reach out to more men by inviting them in to our group.
I would give a book to each of the men in those groups and to each leader on the staff at my church.
One thing that I have learned as that everything flows downward and as leaders in the church or in a group, your influence then goes out to others. We need to be able to connect with people, and connecting is “becoming” a part of their lives. A lot of times people are not accepted because they are in different than s in many ways and they then are rejected not accepted. We need to connect with all people whether they “fit in” or not, because another thing have learned is that people won’t behave like you, believe like you and belong until they first feel like they belong, then they start to behave like you and then believe like you. But they want to feel accepted and loved, and how can people do that if they don’t communicate AND connect.
Connecting is key, and I want to put a “key” into some leaders hands that I know.

I have spent a part of my free time over the past year teaching business principles through a nonprofit in Miami. Our whole focus is to help people with very little practical business experience learn how to build the right foundations and take their businesses to their local communities.
These books could be a useful resource for some of the students who really want to run with their ideas and get started on their projects correctly and quickly. One of the toughest things for any new business owner to do is learn how to connect well with others and push their circle of influence out.

I would love to share Everyone Communicates, Few Connect with our team of college planning coaches.
One department conducts 6 workshops each weekend across the US. The key for them is connecting with their audience. This book would sharpen their skills and improve how they connect with new families each weekend.
In the home office, I would present this to our Executive Vice President as the next book for us to read and discuss with our department leaders. Our “leadership book club” meets every other week and our focus for the year is clarity. I know that ECFC would help us learn how to communicate with clarity.
Thanks for making us better leaders and communicators!

As a Law Enforcement and Corrections Chaplain I Minister in an environment where communicating and connecting is the priority. I would give 10 copies to all of the Sgts. Lts. and Captain and 10 copies to the Asst. Chaplains under me. I would establish a time for us to talk about the book to encourage input and testimony.
Then I would ask that everyone donate the book back to the Chaplaincy Library to be used for the inmates to check out. There’s always a leader among them and some could really use this as a tool to bring peace and restoration where there is division for a variety of reasons. Communicating and Connecting effectively would bring order when there was conflict.

I would challenge each manager under me to challenge each person under them to read the book and act out one idea from the book daily. After 30 days, we would get together and see how much their customer service has improved, how much their organization has improved, and how much more they enjoy coming to work. I would also encourage them to use the principles in their spiritual and home life as well to improve relationships on a personal front.

I am currently an up and coming leader within my organization, who has been blessed recently thanks to having a great mentor who follows many of John C. Maxwell’s principles on Leadership. I have now started mentoring others who display an eagerness to grow their leadeship skills within our company.
I would love to share this book with my peers, and other emerging leaders within our organization so that they can become better communicators in their journey to grow professionally.
One of my other roles within my organization is serving on a board that deals directly with community volunteerism. In this role, any guidance on how to become a better communicator amongst other leaders with our community would be a huge benefit for any of our leaders. It would be an absolute honor for me to win a case of these books, and would be proud to distribute these amongst the groups that I am blessed to work with daily.

We here at FamilyLife are in the midst of much change both as an organization and in how we work/assist our volunteers.
I would have our leadership team read it; and discuss it and also have a dozen key volunteers read it and then all would join in a discussion of how to impact changes at our organization and with our volunteers based on insights from the book.
Thanks for leading!

I will give the copies to the leaders of churches and/or community centres located in rural (previously disadvantaged and still underdeveloped) areas. I have learned that we – in affluent urban settings – tend to forget that we have struggling brothers and sisters in other parts of the country.

I am the founder of a Non-Profit Biblical marriage counseling ministry in Houston, TX. As I meet with couples and speak to groups about the importance of Christ being at the center of marriage not only do I need to communicate effectively, I need to connect to thier hearts. So…1 book is for me.
Another 3 are for my board members. They all work for a large non-profit organization focused on building Godly families. 1 of my board members is in charge of planning thier upcoming annual staff conference and is considering using ECFC for the basis of some teaching that will take place. We believe this message could affect the organization on multiple levels:
1. To help further its mission
2. To improve its internal operations
3. To improve the personal relationships of the staff members
The other 20 books will be handed out to pre-marrieds at a seminar that I give a communication talk at. Although Christ needs to be central in marriage, the ability to communicate and connect to your spouse is also very important. I want to give these couples a jumpstart in thier communication before they even start thier marriage journey!

Would love to share these books with the high school students who participate in our Summer Leadership Academy. They practice their leadership skills in a peer driven entrepreneurial business atmosphere. Our students are inner city students who are working to become Christ led leaders of tomorrow. Their leadership training is both practical and purpose driven. I am sure they would appreciate the advantage of having studied John’s book and would gain huge insight into connecting with others through the lessons learned.

I teach and live in the female dorms as a resident supervisor and mentor at a military academy for grades 7-12. I would use 24 copies of “Everyone Communicates, Few Connect” as follows:
~I’d keep one for myself, so that (among other things) I can use it as a resource for the communication unit of a leadership training and character development curriculum I’m designing for 7th and 8th graders.
~I’d give one to our Head of School, one to the Commandant of Cadets, one to the Dean of Academics and one to the Director of Advancement.
~I’d give 4 to some of my fellow teachers, in order to help equip them to have a greater impact on the cadets they mentor.
~The remaining 15 would become part of a 5-year plan for informal youth leadership development at the academy. I’d give away three copies of the book per year for five years, to equip a total of 15 young leaders in a crucial season of their development. The three recipients would most likely be high school juniors or seniors, but I’d ask the Lord to give me wisdom and discernment so the books would end up in the hands of those who could benefit from them the most.
Thanks for continuing to provide us with such awesome resources!

Last week the first “We Inspire “conference took place in Oklahoma City for women entrepreneurs. Over 650 women attended!!! I would take 23 of the books and give them to 23 of those courageous women who want to start their own businesses. (The Oklahoma State University RiataCenter for Entrepreneurial studies sponsored the event and can help me select the 23 women.) As we distribute them to those 23 we would ask them to read it an pass it on to another attendee who would then pass it on to another attendee. The spirit of connectedness was so terrific at that meeting that I bet we can make 23 copies touch 650 companies. And to allay any fears of losing sales, each recipient would be encouraged to buy the book for their staff.
I would keep one copy for my staff. We are constantly talking about communication here and I’m sure our single copy will morph into more personal copies as well.
276 Adriana // Apr 6, 2010 at 9:11 am
I will share these copies with the leaders of my organization. Your books add value to every persons who read them and we need to be best persons.
277 Cesar Vaquera // Apr 6, 2010 at 9:12 am
If I won I would definately give a copy to my close friends, my girlfriend and to my boss. As a gift I would also give copies to customers I see frequently who seem to have great attitudes. I would also give my mom a few copies who is miles away from home connecting with people in Oregon give a copy to my brother who is encarcerated and a couple copies to my sister who loves people and loves to share the love of God every chance she gets. I would give one copy to each of my boxing coaches.

Well, first, I’d keep a copy for myself to read!
Then because I am a board member of a pregnancy medical help clinic, I’d give out the copies to the staff, key volunteers and my fellow board members. Regardless, of what level we serve in a ministry, we all need to learn how to connect with each other and with those we serve!
282 Don Lourcey // Apr 6, 2010 at 9:31 am
I would give a copy to each of our staff members at North Carolina Virtual School; we have 5 separate divisions and each division can use this text as a book study to shore up divisional communication and connection with the work of each team. We are constantly looking at ways to improve the internal workings of our teams to provide the greatest impact to our external stakeholders (mainly our students, principals, and superintendents).
283 Michael Mitchell // Apr 6, 2010 at 9:33 am
John,
If I had a case of your new book,
1. I would use 8 of them at work. I have direct reports on my team that would really benefit both inside the work environment and at home from reading this book.
2. I would share 8 of them with my business partners. Building people skills and leadership is the key to our business, so I would suggest this as a development tool.
3. I would share the rest with my family at our reunion this summer in Atlanta. Based on the excerpts you posted while writing the book, this is exactly what so many of my family members need.
4. I would be even more of a John Maxwell fan! LOL
284 Rusty Perkins // Apr 6, 2010 at 9:37 am
I would first read the book, as I have read a number of your books you have previously published. I would then share copies with threee entities. First, my co-workers. I am managing a small team that is in its’ embrionic stages. We are scattered across the country, so solid communication is key to our seccess. Second, with a group of college students I mentor. They are just starting in their careers and leaning thsi vital concept will (I hope) differentiate them from their peers. Lastly, with the Elders at my church. We are a diverse congigation and being able to effectively communicate will stregnthen the flok as a whole.
285 Mike Simonson // Apr 6, 2010 at 9:44 am
I would use 20 of them for in our next set of book clubs at work. We are currently doing two book clubs Winning With People at one office and 17 Indisputable Laws of Teamwork in another office.
I work in IT managing an ERP system. The book clubs are with the rest of IT (Infrastructure, applications and HelpDesk) and in our AP Shared Service Center. Both groups communicate on a regular basis with our internal customers.
The extra copies I would extend to family members (Nurse Practitioner, Grief Counselor, Elementary School Reading Specialist) who work with and help people on a daily basis.
286 Stephanie // Apr 6, 2010 at 9:47 am
I would give them to the staff and leadership team at our church. We believe that if you’re not reading you’re not learning, if you’re not learning you’re not growing and if you’re not growing then what are you giving to the people around you? We love learning and growing in leadership!
287 gina coleman // Apr 6, 2010 at 9:48 am
I would give them to the leaders at my church. Because we are a fairly new church (4yrs) I believe that the books would be most benenifical before the foundation is completed, as opposed to getting them when are already established!
288 Bob // Apr 6, 2010 at 9:50 am
I would start by reading the book. This should then give me a better idea as to how to connect with people and who would be the appropriate people to benefit from receiving a book. That would dictate how to distribute the 24 books. I would probably buy an additional copy for my own ongoing use.
289 Bob Richie // Apr 6, 2010 at 9:51 am
If I was given a case, I would give the first one to my pastor. At times I do not think he listens or connects to the members. I would then give one to a candidate running for office to make sure he listens to the people who put him there. I would use the balance with those in business that I feel are trying to improve their relationships with their employees. Employees are the greatest asset of any business and too often, they are treated as numbers on a production machine and not as assets to be invested in and inspired. The best businesses I have found are those that treat their employees as a family. They already know. Its the other 80% that need the help.
290 Leslie Tritsch // Apr 6, 2010 at 9:55 am
The moment my husband saw this book advertised in our Lifeway Christian Stores circular, he had to have it. I did buy it for him at my first opportunity. It is amazing how coincidental-seeming situations turn out to be the hand of God. Every year the ladies of our church host a Mother-Daughter Banquet and a Mother-Son Banquet. Because of scheduling conflicts, this year we are forced to combine the two. The theme for the Banquets (before we knew we had to combine them) were “My Sister’s Keeper” and “My Brother’s Keeper”. The focus for the ladies dealt with how women have the same problems the world over and how they suffer in silence, so many times, because they are afraid to become vulnerable to each other, and open up and allow their sisters to share their burdens. (Sisters that probably have the very same problems). The men’s focus deals more with the responsibility of being their brother’s keeper with an emphasis on mentoring along with the benefits and need for friendships among men – real men. We are drawing from Stu Weber’s book, The Four Pillars of A Man, where he talks about “soul connecting”. The principles in your book are so vital to this topic (and, indeed, to the women’s topic, as well). ECFC makes it easier to combine the two topics that seem, at first, so poles apart, but yet have so much in common. It would be so awesome to have a copy, at least for every man present, at that banquet! I’m praying . . . . Thank you, Mr Maxwell, for your giving spirit, not just in this contest, but for giving of yourself for so many years in your writings and teachings, endeavoring to EQUIP leaders for Christ!
God bless you!

291 Wendy Hamrick // Apr 6, 2010 at 9:57 am
I would first like to thank God for blessing Dr. Maxwell with his gifts and abilities; John, thank you for all that you do for so many, your writings and your teachings are blessings to us all, “thank you” sometimes doesn’t seem to be sufficient; and thank you, Mr. Nelson, for your generosity with this promotion that will bless so many people and inspire others to follow suit and be a blessing to others!
Upon receiving this gift, the first thing I will do is pray and ask what is expected of me as I have been blessed to bless others. I have listed my first thoughts, however I know my thoughts are not Gods thoughts, and His will be done.
It is with the belief that in order to benefit others, we as individuals need to make certain our personal growth is continuous, therefore, two of the books would be for my husband and myself, so that we may continue our personal growth.
I will give 10 books, and carry forward the blessing, to new members of our Team National business, so that they may continue their growth and be a blessing for others they in turn will begin helping.
I will give 10 books to leaders within our Team National organization so they may grow personally and be an inspiration to others as well.
Finally, I will use two of the remaining books for continuos “borrowing” so that everyone I come in contact with will be able to enjoy and be inspired by another great book from Dr. John Maxwell.
I will then send a personal letter of gratitude to Thomas Nelson and ask everyone who has been given this gift to do the same. Had it not been for his geneosity we would not have this opportunity.
Respectfully and Sincerely we thank you for all that you do,
Wendy Hamrick

Dear Dr. Maxwell & Thomas Nelson,
It is my wish to receive your case of books of ECFC to use with several Ministries at St. Mark United Methodist Church in Chicago, IL.
As a Member of St. Mark I founded a new Bible Study Class called Leadership Stewardship & Wealth Building. We are currently using your Leadership Bible and would love to receive this new book to learn how to connect through the communication process. YOU stated in your introduction that “The Crying Need of the Church Today is Leadership.” Through this Ministry I want to do my part to fulfill that void. I feel effect communication/connecting is the key!
I am also a member of the St. Mark United Methodist Men. The importance of strong Christian Men serving in the Church cannot be overstated. Our communities, families and nation need us more than ever to be effective communicators that can connect with others. Everyday Men have to be more of an example to our youth and especially our Young Men.
More importantly as a Parent Assistant of the St. Mark UMC Martial Arts Ministry that is under the Leadership of Master Maceo Pembroke of East Sea Martial Arts. 5 years ago our Pastor Dr. Jon E. McCoy put in place his vision of working with Youth through this wonderful program. We have over 60 Kids from Little Dragons to Adult Classes. We want to effectively connect with words and discipline.
As summer approaches and we prepare for our 2 week Bible Summer Camp I feel that your book can be used on many levels and in many ways with the magnitude of Ministries at St. Mark United Methodist Church. God calls us all to be better Leaders but to do so we must first be better communicators. I often recall your comment about the “Hammock Speech” Strong in the beginning and end but weak in the middle.
That has always stood out to me as I want to connect better with others.
More importantly I want to be a better Husband, Father and Son as it is my hope to connect better with those that are closest to me! Thank you in advance for this Opportunity!
Sincerely,
John Buchanan

What I would do with 24 copies of ECFC
First, I would give my husband, my son and my daughter all copies of their own. I am reading mine on Kindle. Since I use my Kindle constantly, no one else will likely read it there.
I will definitely share this book with the local school, providing it to the teachers and to the library. It is a very small school- fewer than 200 students from kindergarten through 12th grade. The focus on the required curriculum does not always leave room for teaching leadership and communication but if this book and the sharing of it can reach someone in our school the impact may be big.
What books are left following sharing it with our school, will go to friends. This is a hard working, rural community. Sometimes, reading is not a priority but receiving the book from a friend may just spark someone to read it.
I am enjoying my Kindle edition of ECFC. Sharing the book would raise its value one hundred fold. I will certainly feel great joy in sharing it but the potential for paying it forward is not measurable.
Thank you for this opportunity.
295 Zane Safrit // Apr 6, 2010 at 10:05 am
First, I’d read the book myself. That’s one.
I’d give 6-7 to members of my community, partners and collaborators.
The rest I’d share with listeners to my radio show. Hopefully, that would be in conjunction with having you as a guest on my radio show.
It’s close to a self-serving pitch here. But, the audience is small business leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators who would benefit from your book.
Regardless, great post, great book, great idea.
All the best!

I’m a part of a women’s affinity group at work – Piedmont Healthcare in Atlanta. We recently read & discussed How Successful People Think, and it was such a hit, we would love to discuss another Maxwell gem.
In addition, I write a book review blog. You can read my post on HSPT here: http://www.babbettesbookblog.com/2010/04/book-review-how-successful-people-think.html. I’ve had about 1400 unique viewers and with a nearly 50% loyalty rate, I’d be able to educate a lot of readers about another Maxwell read.

I run a business and we are fanatical about self-improvement! Our problem is consistent communication among our leaders. After reading the book myself, I would 6 books to our prison ministry volunteer staff, I would give 12 books to the women of Coffee Creek Correctional Facility and I would give the remaining 6 copies to the staff of Coffee Creek. I would use this book the same way I have used others in the past, which is to help the ladies see the greatness that is within them. Walking through life is more than just talking to people but connecting with individuals.

302 Dr. Stephen Moore // Apr 6, 2010 at 10:27 am
Giving 24 books away to improve the lives of 24 people and the people around them is a great idea. If I were given the books, I would help make your idea exponentially more effective.
First, I would purchase a book for myself to read and another for my wife to read, since she is the most important person in my life that I need to connect with.
Then, I would give 12 books to 12 people within my business organization and I would give the other 12 to people outside of my business organization with one condition;
THEY MUST PURCHASE 2 ADDITIONAL BOOKS AND GIVE THEM AWAY.
I would teach them how this book can affect the lives of many more people by following a simple plan. If everyone purchases 2 more books and gives them away with the same condition and then teaches everyone to do the same, this book will reach millions of people.
Sincerely,
Dr. Stephen Moore

Dear Mr. John Maxwell:
First of all Thank you very much for including Canadians in your promotion. I love your Ministry and have been so Blessed by the Wisdom, and the various tools God has given you to share with and strengthen The Body of Christ and the world.
I would love to sow copies of your new book into the lives of My Pastor and some of the Ministers and Leaders in the Kingdom of God that I know, to strengthen their Leadership Skills and Ministries for the Glory of God.
I would also love to sow copies into the lives of some of the Married people I know. I pray your Godly Wisdom and practical Communication and Leadership Tools would help to strengthen, and maybe even bring healing to their lives and Marriages in Jesus Name. I know your new book would be a tremendous blessing to each of their lives.
Thank you again for your faithfulness to your calling and Ministry for the Glory of God.

Hi John:
Thank you for the opportunity to communicate with you on facebook and by email. I started listening to you when you shared your testimony about what happened to you at the airport. I saw how you used the grace God has given and humility to testify and communicate that anyone can mess up. But its how we handle it and communicate to others that admitting when we are wrong, and asking for forgiveness are the right thing to do and influence others to do the same. So I believe that you live what you write about, therefore your books are valuable to instruct effective communication in all areas of life. I would choose to give the books to 24 people where I see or hear they are wanting to communicate this same message of taking responsibility, and communicating the importance of asking and giving forgiveness, so they can do it with skill and effectiveness like you did.

I would like to share the books with the leadership staff at Life Changing Christian Center in Bear, DE. We are a church that predominately serves ages 18 to 35 and are on the rise! I currently serve on the Board of Directors at the church (in the area of membership) and I would love to see each leader grow and be able to win more for the kingdom! I would also share its contents with a mentoring group I founded at the school where I currently teach called “Ladies in Training”. This group focuses on developling the leader and lady in young women ages 12 to 15.

As a first time leader of a not-for-profit horseback riding club I would definately share the books with all the members of our board.
The club has a long history of poor communication and miscommunications and I have been reading several of John’s books as we work through many of the teamwork and engagement challenges with this group.
I would love to share these ideas with the rest of my board and help all of us grow into a better team.

I would distribute this book to not only the entire management team at our organization but also to key members of our staff. My goal is for our organization to start thinking less about processes and more about people. I am a firm believer that people within an organization don’t care about you until they realized how much you care about them.

Hi everyone – I know South African’s don’t qualify for the competition, however, that does not stop us from dreaming…. Maybe someone will sponsor some books to South Africa! God’s hand is not too short.
I am doing a mini Thesis on the rehabilitation and successful re-entry of offenders into society. Part would involve identifying effective training material on personality communication styles etc: I would use John’s books to help teach communication and connection which is very lacking in South Africa, especially between teens and their parents. So… I would have to identify workers within our prisons that in turn would teach the principles to others – I would give all 24 away (I have one on order for myself – finally) I would also then run a mentoring group to facilitate the material – ensuring the best is gained & applied (a bit of accountability and ensuring that the material is actually applied and in turn passed on). It was announced this week that the Correctional Services is heading up a special centre for the rehabilitation of teens/light offenders…. That might be a good place to start – Bring great change to the up and coming generations of South Africa.
I believe God uses our Dreams and stretches us to have Extreme Dreams.

I already have the book. The copies I would win I would share with our teachers at our elementary school. I am an assistant principal and I am in the communication business. Our teachers are communicating constantly as well. They communicate with their students, with each other, the rest of our school staff, and finally with our parents. This book would be especially beneficial for those new teachers that we are trying to guide to become effective teachers and in effect effective communicators. The books would serve as a reflection piece as well. Teachers would be asked to read a section or chapter then asked to communicate their thoughts at the next grade level meeting. Without communication we are ineffective as educators!

This is such a wonderful mentoring and teaching tool that I would like to give my 24 copies away as follows:
Young leaders in middle school and high school (yes, I think they’d get it)
Emerging leaders who are entering college (ability to influence peers)
Those who are new to leadership roles in ministry (more effective ministry)
What a terrific idea, thanks for your generosity!

I will use 4 with my coworkers so he could share with there team , other 4 with my church leaders so he could share with there team, other 4 with my business partners that I have in 4 different countries so they could promote to start to study the book with a 2,000 people organization, 4 with my family so we could start a family group each week to study and apply the principles in the book, and the last 4 will be give to start with a group of mens that are trying to recover there marriages.
I think the communication theme is very important is like the oil in the motor engine of a car, without oil the motor broke.
Thanks

I’m a government employee, working for a local county government. Our Department recently went through the Leadership Gold book and got a lot out of it.
If I had a case of John Maxwell on Leadership, I would distribute the book amongst County management. (Our Department is small, so I would spread the book further.) I would give one to the County Manager, the Assistante County Manager, all of the Department Heads, and (of course) my own Department. Heck, I might even give a copy to the elected officials.
Like much of the United States, we’re having fiscal issues, and at a time like this we need leadership in addressing our issues. John’s books do a great job of communicating leadership skills in English.

I am new to the group at church and really want to learn and share what I know. I have used Johns programs in the past and I am reading Thinking for a change again. I have bought this book three times. I love sharing his work and following up to see what people think of his work. God has blessed me thru the reading of men like Mr Mallwell. I got great pleasure when ask Monday this week what I was reading ? I reached in and pulled out his book. I said I am on Chpter 6 when I finsh it I will mail it to you. I would love the chance to share great work!
God Bless

My husband and I lead the youth group at Crossover Church in Tampa, Florida. We target an urban crowd. I would share the copies with our leadership team and also our teenagers who are growing and stepping out in leadership within our church and community. We believe in equipping our leaders and young people with tools to achieve all the God has for them, to live balanced lives and learn clear, effective communication. We are gratefule for this offer.

I would first read the book and then give a copy to the people I know that would be most helped by it.
The rest I would give randomly to people that I feel could be most influenced from reading it. I would also hand them out free of charge to the folks that help out in the inner city ministries who can then read it and help those in more need to help themselves. They would also end up in the low income areas of the city in the drop in centers so they can have a read and use the information to further themselves.
We need leadership in addressing our issues. John’s books do a great job of communicating leadership skills.

I would be so appreciative to win the case of books! I submitted a comment during your writing process. I’m the Executive Director of a nonprofit that provides case management services to at risk students during the school day and I serve as the Youth Minister at our church. In both organizations, I have a team that works with me. This book would be an excellent team training tool to help us enhance our communication and effectiveness as a team in order to improve our service delivery and ministry to the students we serve. At my nonprofit, we have already studied through both “Laws of Teamwork” and “Qualities of a Team Player”, as well as “The Difference Maker”. I reference your material as a regular part of our training. A case of books would allow me to give one to each of my employees, my youth ministry team, and my church leadership and the other ministers – all of whom would love them. Thank you for the generous opportunity!

John,
I am the Senior Pastor of a Wesleyan church in Maine. I found in my years of ministry that along with leadership, everything rises and falls on Communication. Mis-communication can divide a church. Communicating clearly can unite a church. I would like to give the copies of your new book to my board and ministry leaders for all of us to go through and study together. Plus, I would love a signed copy for myself to keep… I am one of the pictures on the front cover!
Thank you for all that you do in encouraging all of us in ministry!
Sincerely,
Jay LaScolea

John Maxwell….Thanks for this opportunity to enter and win 24 copies of “Everyone Communicates, Few Connect.”
Holding one copy for myself, I would use the remaining copies as ‘giving forward.’ This requires leaving the book(s) at a designation where I have recently had the opportunity to serve, travel or stay. A note is attached offering each book for free, with a request to pass along the book, with the same note, for the next reader. Blank pages can be offered as a readers commentary page.
The key is being available, trusting God, and knowing He has a plan in place with a need to fill. The reward is instant, and everlasting!
Thanks to all who have entered. I have genuinely enjoyed reading all the wonderful ways in which to spread more good news.
To the judges at Thomas Nelson, I pray you find joy in the task at hand and look forward to the next.
Thank you for your time.

A case of 24 books can be shared by key people within my life. My Kids, brothers, Mom & Dad Relatives , Friends, Fire fighters, College students. They key to recieving these books would involve an obligation by them to Read it, Highlight it, Finish it, Sign it then Give it and see how many it will connect with. I believe to connect is to share. My Hope is for this to happen without winning the contest, so I will start with my copy. Good luck to all

Good morning! I would gladly accept your books and hand them out to each one of my business students in our inner city high school where I teach. I would be so happy to be able to pass these on to these kids-they are so afraid of success and sometimes feel so overwhelmed with taking risks and chances. I would also create a curriculum around the book to continue to share the lessons and be sure they really grasp the positive lessons they can learn from your teachings. We would be so humble to receive these books and thank you for the opportunity!

I actually have a copy I am reviewing for my blog. It’s a great read so far. I am a new pastor in a church in a rural setting. I would love to put a copy of the book into the hands of the pastor’s in my association and lead a four-week discussion in our weekly pastor’s meeting. This is an area that needs a revitalization among our churches and church leaders. Most of these pastors have limited budgets and little to no seminary education. These books could be used to develop a great workshop for these men to be more effective communicators.

I would organize a “Put Your Dreams to the Test” series or workshop and empower everyone to create a Dream Board and go Chapter by Chapter through this phenomenal book, with discussions on how to apply the great tools into real life, and have everyone TEST their dreams with everyone at the end of the workshop.
This is a fantastic book, and one that everyone should read!

I would use & keep a copy to fill up myself. Then with the renewed wisdom & perspective gained, I would make emotional deposits in the lives of others. I believe ‘RAK” Random Acts of Kindness, can never be often enough. People don’t remember moments but they never forget the way you made them feel. I think sharing the book supply where moments present themselves to foster this would pay it forward with the blessing and info contained therein. These books I imagine would foster their own blessings and keep the spirit of paying it forward moving, all from your initial emotional deposit genrously giving away to others. IN THE MEANTIME… EXPECT A GREAT DAY!

I work with many lower-income women who either are single moms or are in a financial bind they are trying to get out of. I envision “Connecticate Groups” popping up in my community in local churches and service groups.

I am a pastor who believes in getting across the message of Jesus Christ. I would give a copy to each of my 4 board members and then give a copy to each of the other church leaders pastor and board members in my area. If there were any left after that I would make sure some friends in leadership/ministry received copies. Dr. Maxwell has some great ideas and a proven track record that shows his ideas work. That knowledge is powerful and must be shared with those in leadership.
Maybe not the best idea for use of a case of books, but I believe in being useful in my own community and then reach out. If I can band together with others churches and leaders in my area, we can make an impact and if we can make the connection that is needed, the impact will be much larger. Thanks for considering me. Blessings

First of all, AWESOME last name!!
I work with several groups that focus on youth leadership. One is the Mayor’s Youth Council, which is a group of youth that serve a one-year term in the city and I add leadership/personal development as a part of their experience. Secondly I work with a group of youth in the local schools that focus on minority achievement in the classroom and commnity. I would use the books with the groups as development tool to develop leadership and communication. I don’t like the term “book club” but in esseence they would read and discuss the book as a group, learning and applying the principles and concepts together. I would then re-use the books with the next group of youth, so on.
350 Steve Shubert // Apr 6, 2010 at 1:15 pm
I would give them to my circle of closest friends, particularly the pastors. In the world of ministry, if you can’t connect with the people you’re communicating with, then all your labor is in vain. Jesus not only communicated His ideals to His followers, but He connected with them in a very real, demonstrable manner. As a minister, and a musician, my goal (see my website) is to “Connect Hearts With Heaven”. My opinion is, that should be the primary goal of every minister; if we can’t first connect with our listeners on a personal level, however, our hope for connecting them with any Higher level is severely diminished. Looking forward to reading your book, Dr. Maxwell.

We already use your material for several of my church’s Bible Seminary Classes. From there we began to incorporate the main points of qualities of a team player to our community program youth interns’ orientation and has had wonderful results. I know that it maybe a little high-level for younger kids, but I know that John’s teaching would be beneficial for everyone and maybe appropriate for high school students at our church!

Being a teen is hard enough, let alone adding to the fact you are in foster care. It makes communication very hard at times. Leadership is one of the most sort after skillsets in demand today. People are looking to be lead and knowing John’s simplified approach in his teaching of this skill set and how to connect with others I would take the knowledge from his book and write a 1hour training based off it for my network of entrepreneurs.
Duplication is the key element to demonstrating great leadership as an effective communicator as you can become, you can only get exposure to a certain amount of people, however if you can teach others to do the same we can get more coverage a lot faster and more effective.
Knowing this I would run a one hour training a week after I receive the books for approximately 200-3oo people. I would then give away the 24 books as gifts to the first 24 people who demonstrate themselves as effective communicators looking to get the next level OR individuals who have a great desire to be a effective communicator and state their case.
I would then encourage the rest of the network to purchase the book and point them in the direction of John’s website to get it ordered.
Currently I teach “Develop the Leader Within You” and “Develop the Leaders Around You” so this would not be a large stretch in helping people further to aspire to becoming greater leaders and communicators!
Thank you for your books and your inspiration John, I truly feel grateful for your teachings and thoroughly enjoy implementing your fundamentals into action!
Cheers,
RJ Barros

I usually look at the other in thirds…With the remaining books I would hit 3 generations…High schools/prep schools, Local business associations, & nursing/rehab facilities. Each place would have a leader to coordinate a power point, return to relationships & service to others…This would get it from the younger up, middle up & down, & lived lots of life folks down. That would be cool to follow-up with each place…

I’m a youth pastor with about 30 students, and I’m starting to meet with my teenage leaders once a week for accountability and leadership training.
I would give each of my four leaders a copy of this book, and we’d go through it together as we implemented the book’s idea in life application. Once the leaders got a grasp of the book’s ideas and content, I would have them lead small groups with people in their sphere of influence.
Once all of our books had been given away and used in small group training, we’d buy more as the popularity of our leadership training and small groups increased!

By doing that I would be making them improve as people to be successful in life.
2.I also work with students who are in trouble and not doing a good job in the classroom. I can use the books in my room to motivate their minds and help them to realize what is possible out there if they follow their dreams!
3. I am in charge of our Saturday School program to motivate kids to do their work and stay out of trouble I could use the books those days to make a difference in their lifes

I would take/read the first and pass the remaining 23 to my pastor. I would ask him to keep one and decide whom to give the remaining 22 books to. That oerson would keep one and so on and so on.
I think the connectivity of people who know people who are constantly learning creates a powerful network with a strong ripple effect.
Thanks!

Twenty-three of the books would be donated to the libraries of the many churches in our immediate area. All denominations, all faiths to be included in the gift.
The twenty-fourth book would be donated to our local library in loving memory of our Mother, Ruth M. Morgan, who recently went on her eternal life journey to be reunited with our Father, Brother and all who have gone before.
Our dear friend, Sue Duffield, is featured in the book. Sue was able to attend Mom’s visitation. We played Sue’s recording of “In the Garden” (Mom’s favorite hymn) during the service. It would be an honor to have the book be a part of donations to our local library in Mom’s memory.

I work in a direct sales field, and as a budding leader, I know how important it is to fill your mind and heart with positive, Christian-based ideals. I would give the books to my team and it would help us create that momentum we need to make a difference in our community! We are on a mission with passion and a vision to touch other people’s lives…to bring joy to others that need it…to show the love of Christ to the hopeless!
With the a few books, I would give to my pastoral staff because I know that connecting with our congregation has been a long, difficult road.
With the remaining books, I would donate them to a local shelter for abused women. Hopefully the books would give the women some power to get back in the workforce and become amazing leaders in our community!
385 Bill McCready // Apr 6, 2010 at 1:41 pm
I would work to start a chain reaction: I would give copies to my core staff and we would go through it together, then I would give them copies to give to others that they would gather to start discussion groups of their own. I would then ask the core leaders to challenge their group participants to start more groups, and share the principles to the next layer of leaders. Using the power of momentum, I would make sure that all the leaders and key volunteers made it to a book discussion group in the next 6-8 months.

I’ve already purchased one for my self, So I would give them to the extended leadership/safety team I’m on at work. There our so many world view leadership books on the market it would be awsome to give them a Christhian based leadership book. The left over books I would give to the elders of the church I attend ( Chapel in the Pines, Twain Harte, CA). We could all use help on better comunication.

We are a ministry that does several different things: evengelize, publish a magazine (Blessed Living Magazine) which, we give away 10,000 issues every two months, have a meals on wheels program, and each month, on the last Wednesday of the month, we host a Business Empowerment Luncheon at our local Outback Steakhouse. Local entrepreneurs, employers, and employees gather together to hear what God’s Word has to say about how to run a successful business God’s way. We would purchase a book for ourselves from Barnes & Noble or John Maxwell’s website (wherever it will be sold), and use the “free” case to give away to these faithful attendees who are always seeking to expand their sphere of influence, communication and leadership. This is such a blessing to receive such a gift that we can pass on and continue to see God’s hand in each of their lives. Blessings to you for even offering this opportunity to us!

I have a a fairly new team at my job in a bank and great communication is vital as a team in our industry especially now. I would conduct a book club in weekly team meetings with the employees ( I have 10). We would go over a chapter a week and then we would brainstorm ways we can implement the ideas on a day to day basis. I would also share the rest of the copies with my Leadership at Church. It is so important to communicate well and with integrity. One of our core values at my company is to “Do what you say you will do.” Any tools to help employees see what that means and how much communication means is always a plus. God Bless!
389 Teri G. // Apr 6, 2010 at 1:43 pm
I would begin by reading the book myself, then I would give the rest away to those who are in need of finding Jesus!!! If any can get the message across, it is John Maxwell!!! God Bless.

Although I am not a pastor and not directly involved in ministry, I know many people who are hurting in their relationships. After reading the book myself, I would carefully consider who could benefit from the book and share it accordingly. I would also encourage the people who receive the book to read it with their spouse/significant other if applicable and then pass it along as they see fit. If the books are viewed as a resource to be shared rather than a gift to be stored on their shelf, the message will reach many more people.

I would find people, businesses that have not really heard about John Maxwell and introduce them to you, your ministry, your leadership style by giving them a book.

With twenty four copies of Everyone Communicates, Few Connect, I would first give a copy to our pastoral staff as affirmation that ministry is based on relationships. Then, I would give two copies to each ministry department leader — one to keep, and one for the leader to “pay it forward” to affirm a ministry team member. I appreciate that this book is a compilation of stories sharing life experiences. What an inspirational reminder for all of us to keep communication and relationships REAL!
396 Roy Bowen // Apr 6, 2010 at 1:48 pm
I would use the books to help teach the principles of ‘communication and connecting’ to groups of High School students in my church and local community.
Their generation is being labeled as non-social and having no value. I’ve already bought the book – and I believe the principles are so important, that if young adults can take hold of them, their lives will change immediately.
My 14 year old son is getting my copy though.
397 Marcie // Apr 6, 2010 at 1:48 pm
I would start by giving them to those in leadership positions at our church. When someone asked for prayer in this area, after prayer I would give them this book and give them out to people i feel would benefit the most. I think it would be good tool to place in a high school for the teachers/students.
398 Karen // Apr 6, 2010 at 1:49 pm
With a case of this book, I would give one to each of our church staff and pastors and several key ministry leaders and take them through a small group study. I would then have the ministry leaders take their individual ministry teams through the study as well.

I work to support children’s camps. One current project is with a merging denominational judicatory. We are working to bring growth and momentum in the midst of decline. In so doing, we hope to be able to chart a course for other organizations to turn around and grow. The books would be invaluable for the staff and board members.

I am a high school teacher and basketball coach. I would share the books with our teaching and coaching staff. Our principal is very big on building relationships with kids in school. As the old saying goes they don’t care what you know, until they know that you care.
Our staff meets two times a week for professional development and I’m sure this book would be a great topic for our development as teachers.
I would also use the book personally to grow as a coach and teacher.

Hi John,
I’m personally excited to read your new book. I would give a copy to each of the leaders in my church (Life Church, MN… http://www.eplife.org). I believe it will encourage them to grow deeper as individuals, but will strengthen their leadership capabilities, causing the church to move deeper into what God has called her to — “Helping more people find true life in Jesus Christ by changing lives and in turn changing the world.”
The Lord Jesus bless all of your endeavors…
Blessings,

I am in the financial services industry. I would give a copy to each of the other leaders in my office and award them to our newest leaders as they get promoted. When you’re talking to a family about their financial responsibilities – budgeting, saving, insurance, etc. – it is extremely important that we not only communicate but connect. They need to know we’re not there to tell them they’re doing wrong things but to show them that there are better options. They need to know we care. Our business really is like that old saying about people needing to know how much we care more than how much we know.
404 George // Apr 6, 2010 at 1:58 pm
I have rallied a couple of church leaders in our society and these books will be a great resource tool to help administer and steer our leadership abilities.

I am a business student, and my pastor is also the Dean of the Business Department here at Oral Roberts University. Part of his ministry at our church is teaching basic business/marketing principles to those who cannot afford or don’t have the opportunity to learn them elsewhere. His heart is for the Lord, and his passion is seeing people succeed in everything they touch. I would donate the books to his ministry, simple as that. He would be able to bring the study to life in a way that I could never do on my own.

Wow, I´m amazed reading all the responses. They are quite inspiring and I´m taking some of them into consideration myself for further projects.
I´m running an “undercover” missionary project where I´m using your leadership books to reach to business men and women. I have a mastermind group running right now that I invited people that would not normally come to church or bible group but I want to see saved. So I´m using your book “21 irrefutable laws of leadership – follow them and people will follow you” and I dwell particularity on the subjects about Christianity and I´m amazed on the positive results and reactions. And like you always say “people don´t care how much you know, until they know how much you care”, so it is creating a really deep connecting environment that I´m using to reach people with the message of Jesus. Thank you for your book!
SO to finally get to the point. When the group finishes the 21 laws the point is to split it up into 2 new groups…being 24 people! Amazing isin´t it! And I was already thinking about how to reach them and looking for a book about communication so no matter what it looks like I´m going to be using your book, but it would be really inspiring for us that they would be coming from you.
Thank you again and I wish everyone here good luck with there ideas and that we will find ways to make an positive impact in our own ways. Or like you say “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” God bless!

Following the Maxwell way, I would hold a team competition for our office that rewarded the top 6 people with a copy of the book for 4 month-long contests. The competition would be determined by the demonstrating the essence of concepts like the 360 Degree leader, by building your network of people, and by showing what you truly believe connecting is, as opposed to communicating.

I am a cluster coordinator for about 10 American Baptist Congregations in the Kansas City, KS area. My task is to help the pastors of these churches connect with one another. What I would do with twenty copies of “EVERYBODY COMMUNICATES, FEW CONNECT” by John Maxwell;
I would start by sending my son a copy because we are struggling in the area of communicating..because I love him.. I really want to be a better communicator and connect with him.
Then I would reach out to my church and my school.
The church because I feel we really do not connect with the people who look to us for the answers..
My students because I have had to learn the hard way in trying to connect with them, they come from a world I do not understand, but I want to..I realize I don’t know their world and it’s important for me to demonstrate how much I care, so in showing my concern for them, perhaps I could teach them how to connect..and at the same time teach myself the skill on how to communicate to connect. Thank You!

By the way, we quote you all of the time. Last year, we went through the Maxwell Daily Reader. During every morning meeting, we would take a few minutes to read that day’s entry and discuss what it meant to us. One day you even quoted our company’s founder! That was an exciting day for all of us!

I would use & keep a copy to fill up myself. Then with the renewed wisdom & perspective gained, I would make emotional deposits in the lives of others. I believe ‘RAK” Random Acts of Kindness can never be often enough. People don’t remember moments but they never forget the way you made them feel. I think sharing the book supply where moments present themselves to foster this would pay it forward with the blessing and info contained therein. These books I imagine would foster their own blessings and keep the spirit of paying it forward moving, all from your initial emotional deposit generously giving away to others. IN THE MEANTIME… EXPECT A GREAT DAY!

I would give it to my church’s leadership team as well as give each of them some to give to their leaders in training (ministry volunteers). Communication is very important, and that can sometimes be a problem in a church setting where everyone is busy with ministry projects as well as life in general.

If I won 24 copies of the book, I would keep about 5 copies first. One is for my husband and me, and 4 would be for my 2 sons to pass down to their children. I would also give a few copies to the public library in order for many more people to have access to the valuable information. The Chamber of Commerce would receive some copies to distribute to our local “Employer of the Month.” I would definitely give a few copies to our high school for it’s library and for the school administration. I would like to distribute a copy to any new local entrepreneurial businesses in my small community.
I believe the information in this book will be crucial to helping a new business get started on the right path. And young people still in school will be armed with the correct tools BEFORE they enter the workforce.

I am just beginning a role as Pastor of Outreach and Missions and the title of your book is right in line with one of the key focuses we’re starting with: How can we build relationships and build trust with our community, city, individuals in our context? Moving away from just preaching to people, my hope is to help equip, empower, and enable men and women to learn how to use their giftings, live out their passion, and engage in intentional relationships with people in the contexts God has them in. So to be able to share your wisdom with both the people I’m directly responsible for, as well as some key influencers in the church would be a wonderful benefit. I’d likely save a couple for outreach events as potential gifts we could give out to those outside our church.

As a Creative Arts Minister, writer and speaker I am a connector and promoter by nature. I see the need for this subject and have already ordered my copy so I can evaluate where I am.
1) I would give five of the books to key influencers like the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Dr. Meyer, President of Valley Forge Christian College, Steve Tourville, the District Superintendent of the PennDel District, Ruth Puleo – Women’s Director for PennDel District, Beth Grant – National Director of the Network for Women in Ministry so that they could recommend it to the students, pastors and ministers under their influence.
2) Do a Catalyst Seminar for our District Women in Ministry on the subject and give away a couple books so they can be better connectors and influence those they are leading in their churches and ministries. (of course, others would want to buy the book to get all the info.)
3) Ten books for our Church Ministry Team so we can use it for our Team Retreat and become better connectors. One of these is our Christian Education Director who will probably want to use it to help teachers. Another is our Ministry Head pastor who would want to use it to train leaders in minsitry.
4) Give three away to young women I am mentoring who are pursuing communication careers. Then we would discuss it.
5) Give two away to my children who are communicators and in ministry.
6)Give two away to cousins I just met on Facebook who are communicators whom I am mentoring from afar. (They live in KY)
7) Give one away to Jess Bousa, an up and coming speaker/writer to invest in his future.
As you can see, giving me the books would influence people in leadership in our National and District office as well as our church and community. I think I’d probably have to buy a few to actually be able to give enough away to all the people I want to help influence. Oh well, that’s life.

I’ve been teaching differernt classes in my community, church and business using John’s books. The main one has been “Develope the Leader Within You”. That book changed me as a leader and many who took the class. It also comes in Spanish so we have done two classes in Spanish. I am always giving away that book as I come across leaders who have never read John’s books.
I would love to offer a class using this new book to Mentor not only High School students but others in the community. When it comes out in Spanish we will do the same. It only takes one person at a time to change a community. Another opportunity to raise the bar on the leaders in my community but also open the door to our young, up and coming leaders.

I’ll give a copy to each church staff member, to each ministry leader in my church. Then I’ll ask them to read it and schedule a meeting about it in 2 weeks. At the meeting I would as for discussion about the book and 1 action step each one of them will now take to communicate more proficiently and effectively with their teams/groups under them. Then I’ll keep them accountable to do it by sending reminder texts & emails until they tell me to shut up about it or until they as me to read a book on the perils of micromanagement.
With the extra few books I will send to a few young men in ministry who I am mentoring and encouraging on a regular basis.

I would pay my daughter (11) to read it, and would recommend it to everyone on her YMCA swim team including the coaches. (I’d need more than 24, though.) This is the most important book on teamwork and living that these kids could possibly read. Connecting is the core of teamwork. While the kids are working on their own individual swim times, they are also learning to support each other. I have already told them that one key to a winning attitude is to hang out with winners. By connecting with each other, they all become winners. Next to Dale Carnegie’s “How to Win Friends and Influence People”, this is the most important book on unselfishly connecting ever published.

I have given John Maxwell books to my Confirmands when they are confirmed at First United Methodist Church of West Allis. Last year, I gave them Encouragement Means Everything. I would like to be able to add Everyone Communicates, Few Connect this year.
For gifts on special occasions, I mainly give leadership and inspirational books to youth and youth leaders in my Church family each year. This would certainly be a wonderful addition.

God is so awesome! My husband and I have two more weeks before we finish up a class that we are teaching at our church. This would be a perfect a continuation to a topic that we have been doing for the last several weeks — Building Healthy Relationships. What a blessing this would be. We would offer a free book to the first 24 that register for the class.
No matter what, we pray and agree that all that you are doing in this would be “seed” back into your organization/ministry. That you will reap a blessing that you will not be able to contain.

I am the Sr. Pastor of Channel of Blessings Outreach Apostolic Ministries and for 8 yrs your books have been the backbone of our leadership training classes. We are presently using WINNING WITH PEOPLE which have moved us to focus more on others.
These books will be given to the leaders in the ministry to be used in our quarterly training class. Thank you in advance.

I would keep two copies(one to keep for future reference, one to read) and distribute the rest out to my coworkers at the office. After reading it, I would write a blog post about it along with my assessment just as I’ve done with other books.
I’m in the process of reading the 360 degree leader now. I’ll have a blog post out on it in the next month.
Last but not least, after finishing the book I’d drop the “used” copy off at the local library so they have an extra copy.

I commute daily back and forth between the bus, the bart, and I walk a great deal. One of the things that I look forward to each day are the strangers that I meet. I actually pray for them before my day begins. Some times our conversations range from A to B to A thru Z. Often the highlights of my day happen during my commuting time.
Each time, I walk away with something that I have learned but I often wish that I could have given more, or made more of a concrete impact, because to tell you the truth, I have met some very interesting people.
Then comes this potential opportunity which I think is one great idea! Kudos to it’s orginator.
If I were to win a case of books I would dedicate 24 days of my life, to meet 24 people whom I could directly encourage and inspire personally. I would make it my goal to literally connect with 24 people by applying the skills that I have learned from reading Mr. Maxwells Book. Every Communicates but Few Connect. Thank you and have a great day.

I would use half of the books to have a free workshop series to talk through the principles and practices described in the book. Then with the other 12 books I would give them to the teachers at an organization I am hoping to work as a volunteer called Girls Inc. Their mission is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold. Connecting and communicating is a real key in attaining their goals and the younger they learn these key skills, the better the world will be.

Building Healthy Communication…connecting…is my goal to go “Above and Beyond”, letting the books be a tool to say what I can not say. Blessing’s to one and all, as we all continue to learn and grow. Thanks

I teach management and entrepreneurship at a wonderful Baptist liberal arts college. I would start a “connection chain” with the books, starting with my best students. I’d paste a sheet inside the cover with room for the names of seven eventual “owners” of the book. I’d offer the book to my best students IF they will agree to read it and then approach business people in positions of authority to convincingly describe the book and obtain thier committment to reading it and passing it on to someone else of influence.
Each person who has accepted the offer of the book is to put thier name on the sheet inside the cover. Each person accepting the book will be able to see the hands and hearts that the book has passed through in making it’s way to them.
The seventh person is the final owner of a well-worn, good book.

I have a business coaching others in resume and interview preparation, as well as a Customer service evaluation component. Recently, I started working part-time as a Bailiff at our county courthouse. I have seen the individuals that walk into the courthouse each day. Some leave through the front door, some through the back. I have not seen anyone providing any guidance, regardless of how they leave. I would distribute your book to those who could use help in communicating and connecting. I’d love to see their reaction as they left with a book in hand that could help redirect them in their lives. I have been a John Maxwell student and a Maximum Impact listener for the past 5-8 years. I love who you are and what you have taught me. Thanks for the opportunity to win!

Wow. There are so many people that I would love to give a copy of this book to; however I would have to choose some of the people that are nearest & dearest to my heart.
I am one of many volunteer leaders of an initiative, based in my church that is helping people locally & globally. This is a team of church staff, and hundreds of volunteers doing the daily work of reaching out to our communities.
One case wouldn’t be enough to give to all of our teams, although it would be enough to give to a few of our key staff & volunteer leaders; the people who are leading inside & outside the church, running teams of volunteers, partnering with other organizations & community leaders, doing their best to connect with everyone they come across on a daily basis, and working to meet the needs of the people.
Here’s an idea of a few things we are involved in, and the people we are connecting with: homeless; local schools; elderly, widows, & disabled; local government; people involved in the sex industry/trafficking; global disaster relief; habitat for humanity; home for AIDS orphans in S. Africa; everyday people of our community; ETC. In working with and for people of all ages and backgrounds, connecting is vital. We can’t help them the best we can without really connecting.
Honestly though, we could all use more resources like the book ‘Everyone Communicates, Few Connect’. Who of us couldn’t learn to connect better with other people? I would love to be able to present this tool to our team just as much as anyone else.
And I’m sure any one of these people that have commented would put these books to great use! Thank you to ALL of you for the work you’re doing for others!
Mr. Maxwell & team – THANK YOU so much for your leadership, your hard work to equip people, and your generosity.

462 Marcie Martinez // Apr 6, 2010 at 3:11 pm
Where do I start?! I’d read one myself as part of my personal development in building my business as well as my job.
Next I would give a copy to my managers at work. Because I work for the federal government most managers aren’t interested in true leadership because there is very little accountability. People tend to think that the money we make grows on trees and they forget that taxpayers actually pay our salary.
As the president of the board of directors for a non-profit organization I would give one to the CEO who is also a local politician because it seems that most politicians are more interested in being popular than being actual leaders. Perhaps it would serve as a reminder to him that he is actually still the CEO and has a responsibility to the organization and is still getting paid by the organization.
I would also hand out a book or two to a couple of board members that also happen to be local politicians and seem to be perfectly happy with status quo, meanwhile our organization is about to crash and burn because of upcoming funding cuts.
I would give some of the copies to our program coordinators within HACC (the non-profit organization) so that they can be the best coordinators possible and further enrich the lives of the youth in our community thus helping our “future” become great leaders.
Finally, I would give the rest as gifts to the people closest to me so that they know I truly care about them and their futures. This is one of the best gifts a person could ever get – the gift of knowledge and improvement from one of the best leaders out there!

Dr. Maxwell,
Thank you so much for this opportunity. While I think that many of the ideas presented so far are great, I believe that I have a truly unique plan to impact others and make CONNECTIONS with and through others.
As a high school choral director, I believe that teaching leadership skills to my students is a major component in developing the choral program at my school. The development of strong leaders and quality people is, to me, just as important as teaching the musical skills.
If I were given the 2 dozen copies of ECFC, I would use them for my high school students. I would keep them as a “classroom set”, checking them out to my student leaders, giving them assigned reading passages, and then gathering them together to discuss the message, and the relevance to each individual. It would be a sort of leadership “book club”. Each individual would bring a unique perspective to the collective whole, and through the discussion, make those connections as they learn and grow together.
After working through the book with each of my student leaders, I would then set up small groups within the rest of the chorus membership, and assigning each of the leaders to work through the material with the other students.
I have found that the only way someone truly internalizes a message is to share it or TEACH someone else.
At our high school, we also have a “leadership” class, which is taught by our student government advisor. In addition to the efforts that I take with my own students, I would give her some of the copies of the book, and encourage her to do the same thing with the leadership students that I do with the chorus student leaders. I would even invite them to join the discussions that we have within the chorus leaders.
Once the initial student leadership in my chorus program have gone through the initial sessions, I would set up a student blog, either through Glogster or someother blog, in which the students could share their thoughts and experiences in personal development through ECFC.
Thanks again for the opportunity to share this with my students!

I am just about to start qualification to become a Sales Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics in Canada. Including myself, we need to have 24 consultants to qualify as a new unit. I would keep one book for myself and then give the book to each consultant as a gift when they qualify as a new unit member.
Once we debut, I would use the book as a teaching tool with either a book club or conference calls.
Looking forward to winning that case of books. Self improvement and empowerment is important to successful living and businesses.

Hi There John,
I am not so sure how creative or witty any of my ideas are, but whether or not i win, this will be a book that is added to my library.
The first copy, Iam very delighted to say would go to me. I must intimately know about and study any book that I would encourage others to read.
I would maintain several for those who will be joining me on my journey in Mary Kay as I build my team.
There are some key leaders in Cary, NC that I believe would benefit greatly, beginning with the Wake County School Board as well as the Board of Directors at my daughters’s private school. Those leading our children are also touching the lives of the parents along the way, and certainly could gain from your insight that communication is more than just talking, it is making that personal connection. Building relationships with those whose lives they have influence either directly, as co-workers and students or indirectly, namely the parents and guardians of our precious youth, the seeds of the future can change our future. I believe if you can impact those impacting our youth, we can change the direction our country is headed to some destination greater and better.
Thank you for your consideration
Warm Regards
Chilon Anderson

I coach and mentor pastors throughout the United States and a few internationally. I would keep one of the ECFC books for myself and give the rest to the pastors I mentor. Probably not surprising is the fact that most of the leaders I coach do not feel they have a problem connecting, but their relational vitality concludes otherwise.

I work in a top-75 CPA firm. We have so many different schools of thought here. If I won the ECFC books, I would distribute them amongst individuals at varying levels within our organization and after they were read, I would bring everyone together to discuss.
Ultimately, I believe this would develop a dialogue within our company on how to drive our business forward using the connecting principles and practices outlined withing ECFC!

First, I would give a copy to the Leadership Team at our young church (atarted 4 years ago) and we would read and discuss a chapter a week.
Second, I would get some business leaders n our area and give each of them a copy and we would read a chapter a week and then meet for lunch and to discuss what we had read and how we could implement it in our respective environments.
This way we could influence our church but expand that influence by investing in the lives of local leaders who do not attend our church (maybe any church for that matter).
Thanks for doing this! This is very generous!

As a manager at the best pediatric hospital in the world, I would first give one to my staff. I would ask them to read it. I would ask them to start connecting, not only with the patients we see but also with the doctors that see the patients. Between the staff, doctors, and myself – we can communicate until we are blue in the face. Once we connect, we take a huge step to being even better than what we are now. This is the impact one book can take.
What about the rest? I would personally hand deliver the rest of the books to other managers that work along side me at the hospital. I would challenge them to read it themselves. I would encourage them to share it with their staff and doctors as I will for mine.
24 books… I can see it now. Like a wave moving through the hospital… people connecting like they’ve never connected before.

I am a former pastor, who fell from ministry because of moral and sin based issues. One of the most important books that the Lord used to help in my personal and spiritual restoration was “Failing Forward.” Since then, I have given out many copies of it to people struggling with unreasonable guilt and self-imposed disqualification from doing life and accepting their opportunities for ministry despite their own mistakes. By the grace of Christ, I am now strongly driven to enable pastors and encourage them to continue in their calling and ministry. I would give the out the copies of “Everyone Communicates, Few Connect” to pastors for their continued learning and equipping process.

I would then give some to people I know who could not afford to buy the book who hear you preach and like your teaching. I would also pass them out in my neighborhood to friends that do not know the Lord but can be introduced to Him through by reading your book which would open up way to approach them through different avenues by discussing your book, which I would just keep one for myself unless there were none left and had to give the last one away. As a writing teacher for 15-16 year old students, I would use the books as curriculum. The advantage of giving the books to a teacher is that the influence of my students will be felt for years to come. Most of your blog readers are probably a lot older than my students. Think of the impact your gift could have on the next generation.
These are truly amazing students. The assignment for the last six weeks of our school year is for each of them to write a short novel, and they are excited about it.
These are the communicators of the the next generation. I am imparting to them the best that I have, and I have told them that my vision for them is that they will excel as Christian communicators beyond what my generation has been able to accomplish. I would appreciate the opportunity to use the books. I would not need an entire case as my class is small. Thank you for your consideration.

Wow.. only 24 copies….
In the light of training up a new generation of leaders, I’d give a dozen of the graduating senior HS ROTC leaders a copy and run a book reading club with them. Then I’d challenge each of them to teach their replacements what they learned from the book to pass if forward.
Then with the next 10, I’d share them with my team members at work and run a lunch and learn book reading session with them. With your wisdom, I’d like to help improve with connections with our customers that are all over the world. I’d like to help to overcome the barriers of building those connections via remote sessions and teleconferences.
That leaves me with one more copy other than a copy for myself. With these two, I’d read it and discuss what we learn with my husband so that we could then enrich both our relationship and spread our knowledge to other small group leaders at church so that they could enrich their connections within our church.
With each of these groups, I hold blogs and share across them and ask them to share what they learn with as many of their social network friends as possible. Make this book go viral so that as many as possible could connect with as many as possible in my social, family and work environment.
Then for the person who the group saw get the most effective use the principles and ideas, I’d buy them a case and challenge them to pay it forward with 24 more books.
If everyone just connected with those on their social media connections on a more richer level, just think what this world could do!!!!!

John, This is a very simple question:
24 copies and hoe I would use them:
1) 1 copy for me – I would read and review on my blog. Noone else would want my copy as I am quite sure it will be full of highlighting, dogearing, and writing in the margins.
2) Give 5 copies of the book to those who comment on my review of your book
3) Give 5 copies to friends who would find value in teh book.
4) 13 copies for my mother. When she sees my photo on the inside of your book, she will want to share it with all of her friends! ;o)
That makes 24!!!
I look forward to reading and reviewing and thank you for considering my ‘usage’ of your book.

And I would offer out to my FACEBOOK friends, 10 people willing to donate $100 or more to Cancer Research and Development through Mary Kay’s Charitable foundation…will get a copy of the book. Pay it forward!

to build a better self, so that I can invest in others, especially the next generation’s leaders!
In an ‘Adventure Ministry’ and ‘Outdoor Education’ dynamic there is tremendous capacity to incorporate maxims and theory frameworks to practical land based activities, & with suffice debriefing/ reviews it’s even better!

We all know there is a great need to communicate & connect properly, but what about blessing folks in other languages & cultures?
I would share them with church leaders and church planters all over the world. These guys shape culture each and everyday. How would it be for more and more folks to properly understand and share the Gospel with focused and appropriate attention paid to connecting?

I go to school with some wonderful folks who are so wonderful to be around but they have trouble getting along with each other during projects and group work. Our class is called Developmental Service Workers, we will be working with people with disabilities.
I would love for them to read this book and learn how to connect with each other and eventually be able to connect with other people in their lives.
These folks could be working with young children, adolescents, young adults, adults and seniors – all who need us to connect with them and to learn by example how to connect with others. Our role in people’s lives will be very significant.
If I had the money I would buy them all a book but alas I am a student whose income is about to end April 30th. Please consider us DSW Students for your box of free books. We would enjoy them very much (especially me) and enjoy the idea of connecting with others deeper than we could ever imagine.
Thank for the offer
Kathleen

I would read the book out loud with my family (we have read many books together) and discuss each chapter. The children usually share with their teachers, and they in turn have them turn in a short book report (extra credit-and leaves an impression on the teacher). What a nice gift for their teachers! We have some newly licensed ministers that I would like to share this book with as well.

Two things: 1) Share some of the books with my direct reports. 2) Start a leadership discipleship class at my church using the books, and the book of Nehemiah, as the primary texts.

Visitaría a mis líderes regionales de educación, salud y politica.
Les mostraria como es ser lider con principios de Reino

I will read it and I will take my own notes, with the others 23 I will give it to persons that I know they can growth them self in order to growth others in my community, in my Amway business, my work.
If I am no so lucky, I will do the same thing, may be not 24, maybe less maybe more.
507 Chander Mohan Grover // Apr 6, 2010 at 6:24 pm
I will gift the books to some of my friends, my colleagues at work place, and also at a local library for the benefit of general public.
508 Robert Yrigoyen // Apr 6, 2010 at 6:34 pm
I would contact 23 people and start a networking group in my community. The group would follow your teaching to develop ways to enhance our local community through effective communication (connecting) taught in your book. We would set community goals as well as at least one personal goal then then go for it.
509 Lynsey Koles // Apr 6, 2010 at 7:15 pm
First of all I would be very excited because I never win anything!
I would give copies of your book to the youth ministry staff at Thomas Road Baptist Church because it is important to know how to lead the next generation and the volunteer leaders.
Also, I am a college student so I know some people at Liberty University that would really benefit from a copy of your book as they too will be leaders of leaders.
I plan on making a differnce in this world for Christ and I am hoping tha maybe you could help me do this. Even the smallest of things can make the largest of differnce. Everything rises and falls on leadership, and if this is true than the more I know about being an effective leader and communicator the better my chances! Thank you!

I would take the box to Tanzania where our church will be conducting a Leadership Conference in Mwanza. In 2008 we had over 700 church leaders from over 64 denomination and 7 different countries in East Africa in attendance. I would distribute the books to leaders at the conference.
511 Joshua Griffin // Apr 6, 2010 at 7:21 pm
As many others have stated, I would keep a copy for myself unless, of course, I win a signed copy elsewhere. I would give 7 to the Junior Youth group that I Shepherd at my church as they are all future leaders in the church.
The remainder of the case would go to the disadvantaged youth I teach and Shepherd through a community ministry in my city. These bright young minds are aces in communicating but are having difficulty connecting. Having previewed your book as you posted chapters for review I know this book will make a difference in their lives. I will also spend the time with them going through it and ensuring they get all they can out of it.
Peace to you,
Pastor Joshua Griffin

When I win the case of 24 copies of Everyone Communicates, Few Connect, there are four things I would do with the copies.
First, I would donate six copies to my local library. They are usually lacking on great books and even not having read it yet, I know it will be one.
Second, I would keep a copy to read, underline and learn from for myself.
Third, I would give several copies to the key people in my life who I know would be blessed by them.
Fourth, I would use the remaining copies as personal library books to loan to other people in my life who are less likely to reread beneficial books, but would read them once.
Thanks for reading my entry!

I would give them to the graduating class at Brite Divinity School in Fort Worth, TX. After three to four years of having someone else tell them what to read, I hope they’d appreciate having a practical guide to effective communication. I know I appreciate the copy I’m reading.
514 Pamela Hensley // Apr 6, 2010 at 7:52 pm
I’d keep one for my husband and I to read and I would give the others away to folks who could benefit from it.
Thank you,

I would give them to the young pastors I work with in the 800 churches I work with in north central Texas. Many of these young pastors are seminary students trying to figure out how to lead congregations that are nothing like the ones they read about in the books written by megachurch pastors.
516 LaToyaRJones // Apr 6, 2010 at 8:33 pm
I would give start by asking God for divine appointments to use the book as a tool to make connections. I would also give a copy to my pastor and boss so we can do a study on it to impact the church and business arena.
517 Betty // Apr 6, 2010 at 8:46 pm
The first copy is for me to share with my husband, the second for my pastor. and the remaining would be distrubted to my Mary Kay team and church.

These books would go to all of the people locally on my team. We participate in Leadership Training weekly. We also pick a book each month to read. Often we choose NEW releases for our book; therefore, we all get the chance to read and grow together. We have featured the Laws of Lifetime growth and we feel that we need to connect with more people. 24 books would effectively cover all members of the team and their spouses. Together we strive to make improvements in our lives and in the lives of others. Thank you for this opportunity Dr. Maxwell!

Your exceptional book would make a great gift for a Law Enforcement Instructor/Trainer at the ILEETA (International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association’s)annual conference in a a few weeks.
I am teaching a class called Characteristics of Exceptional Trainers to the well-known expert trainers as well as up and coming trainers in law enforcement. I have purchased 3 of your books to prepare for this class.
I know I would not be able to give everyone in the class a book, but those that answer questions and participate in this interactive class would receive your valuable book.
I believe it is essential for law enforcement instructors to ‘think outside of the mat room’. By this I mean we need to read non-law enforcement related books on topics such as communication, leadership, self improvement, etc. This will definately ensure a well-rounded teacher!
Your books have opened my mind and I hope I can convince others in my profession to read and absorb the messages from your books!
Thank you and have a super day!

I LOVE this book! I just got it on my way to New York City last Thursday, April 1 to celebrate the new Primerica IPO launch on the NYSE! We had a wonderful celebration headed by our co-CEO’s, John Addison & Rick Williams who have been working hard for over 3 years to make this dream come true! My husband and I have been with this great company for 28 years and have learned and grown so much and alot of that growth has come from the principles that we have learned from you John. Your seminars and monthly CD’s over the years have helped so many of us along the journey! As I read this wonderful book, it just affirms and goes hand in hand with the refounding of our new Company! We are a relationship business and this book exemplifies that and this book couldn’t have been written at a better time! If we are chosen to receive a case of books, we will share with our top winners at a Big Awards event we have in Tulsa with over 1500 people that will be in attendance April 23-24. Anytime a new book comes out from you, our Primerica family embraces it and utilizes it! We are the largest financial services marketing company in the world now and our principles remain the same and needed now more than ever. We are also a leadership company that has develope more successful individuals than any other company! Thank you for being such an integral part of our company’s growth! God bless you!

I am a church planter in our 6th year with about 175 people in our church. I am currently working to get leaders in 15 core leadership positions and plan on doing monthly leadership mentoring. This book would be awesome to use to train our leaders to take our church to the next level to reach our community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Since everything rises and falls on leadership, we need a great tool such as this to raise the bar of our leaders. I would also advertise in our community about the monthly leadership mentoring and encourage other community leaders to come out and be a part of this training, getting them to purchase the book as a part the process. It would be used for Kingdom building and community building!

If I were to win the books, I would share them with the management team where I work as well as with my boss (who is a huge John Maxwell fan). The others I would share with other leaders I know who are always striving to improve themselves and their leadership abilities. I would donate some of them to the high schools near me to put in their library.

Each week at our dealership, we the managers meet to review and discuss the events of the previous week and develop a strategy to improve the way we do business. Part of that process is that we pick a book to read and as a group derive some inspiration from the author. Currently we are reading Dave Andersons Up Your Business, a no nonsense look at how to approach personnel development. Were I to receive these books, I would share it with the rest of the management team as our next book project. Though we are the most successful dealership in our group, there is always room for personal growth.

My husband, Glen, and I have worked with Wycliffe Bible Translators for 26 years now. He is a missionary pilot. We served in Brazil for 10 of those years. Now that we are assigned in the U.S. I work with women who come home on furlough from around the world. It is a spiritual/emotional encouragement ministry. If I were given your books I would keep and read one copy, and give the other books to the missionary women and their families. If the LORD directed me, we would study them together…after all, Wycliffe Bible Translators is all about communication…giving people around the world, God’s Word in the language that speaks to their hearts. I share with the women that we are to become a living translation of God’s Word and Love, so others are drawn into His family! God Bless you!

I lead a course called “Uncover Your Calling” for my church. I’d give a book to each member of the class as a graduation present. They do a great deal of self-discovery work, and build strong connections with the members of their small group, in a very nurturing environment. Your book would help them build connections in the world, which is not nearly as nurturing, but necessary to pursue their calling.

I am a Liaison Officer on a National Type 1 Incident Management Team. As a Liaison Officer I interact communicate and connect with a multitude of people from the forces on the ground, the local agencies and the Management Team members. One of the greatest hazards is that we have very little time to “connect” and communicate before we have to dive into our incident assignment. Since we are dealing with peoples lives and their livelihood, good or even better; great connection and communications is a must. So if I were to be chosen for the case of books I would distribute them to our Team members so that we can move forward and connect and communicate effectively!

First and foremost, thank you for the opportunity to obtain a case of your new book ECFC!! (1) I would keep a copy for myself, (2) give a copy to my ex-husband, (3) give a copy to the head guidance counselor at my daughter’s high school and (4) share the others with members of my team. I own several of your books and know that with the knowledge you share/teach we can achieve the next level of success in any arena!
528 Joshua Elliott // Apr 6, 2010 at 10:59 pm
If I won a case of the new ECFC book, I would give copies of the book to each fellow manager on our Management Team as well as our Team Leaders in the Academy Sports store that I am a manager at. I would also hold discussion times with my fellow manager to discuss each chapter of the book in order for us to learn ways to be better connectors. This would be a great help in order to reach our associates and our customers. Thanks for the great topic in this new book!
