Leadership off the legal pad

February 25th, 2009 · 21 Comments

Welcome to the official weblog of John C. Maxwell.

There’s nothing I like better than speaking and writing about leadership. And for over thirty years, I’ve shared what I know about leading and influencing others through conferences, speaking engagements, books, audio recordings, and articles.

Much of my work has even ended up on the Internet in one form or another. But if you know me well, you’re aware that I can’t personally take much credit for that.

I’m just not very computer-savvy. I’m not exaggerating much when I say that I need help turning on a computer. I just prefer the feel of pen on paper, preferably yellow paper on a fresh new legal pad.

In spite of my lack of personal computer knowledge, I’ve finally been convinced to enter the 21st-century world of blogging. So with the help of my blog administrator, I plan to put my current thoughts on leadership here on this blog.

Starting today, I’ll be posting regularly right here at John Maxwell on Leadership. I look forward to the give and take of an online community. So I hope you join me and feel free to tell others.

And even though I’m still learning about Twitter, I’ll be Tweeting as @johncmaxwell. Follow me and join the conversation there.

Welcome to blogging, John! I know how you feel about technology. I love it because of all it allows us to do, but there are times when we humans just need to “make a mark”. Plus, although I type at a fast rate, I find that my mind has time to think when I force it to slow down when I use pen and paper.

We’re looking forward to your future posts!

Don’t be discourage by the technology. Because with it all it still can’t produce a heart that pumps for the Lord by living Godly values. Listen, I just turned 30 a few weeks ago and you still are one of my favorites. I’m a market place leader and I fully understand the challenges of crossing the faith line to be respected there.

Not to many people have done it. But God chose to use you.

    You have my vote!

    Dr. Maxwell,

Sure am lookiing forward to getting a chance to review your blog on a daily basis! You have added such tremendous value to me in my life and I look forward to continuing my learning of the timeless principles you share with us!

As you often say, “my goal is to be a river and not a reservoir.” Thanks for pushing past the uncomfortableness of learning something new, like blogging, so you can share more with us! Appreciate all you do!

God bless you in your new blogging endeavor. Be careful not to break cardinal rule #1 when it comes to blogging. Today is March 3 & you (or your administrator) are pushing a week without a post. Just as in this down economy cash is king, so in the blogosphere content & consistency is king. If you would like any help with your approach to social media, let me know. With my eyes on the prize, Pastor Mike

    John, (Mr. Maxwell)

Just wanted to thank you for your visit to our training event in San Diego. Couldn’t have been at a better time in the process of my personal development plan. I’ve read many of your books, but this was the first time getting the opportunity to hear from you live. Looking forward to reading “In Dreams We Trust”, and the one book that you recommended “Today Matters” Thanks again

Welcome to the Blogosphere, John! I was browsing your site looking for contact information because my wife (a huge fan of yours) says that you and I have the love of crayons in common. (I’m a fan, too…) It was an unexpected surprise to see your new blog. I’ve already added you to my Bloglines, and I’m looking forward to reading your thoughts. Thanks!

    Mr. Maxwell, (John Maxwell)

I have been loving your book “Make Today Count”. I still got three chapters to go, but I only go the book recently. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that you have helped me a lot, I’m now better at my studies (I’m homeschooled, so what I do with my time in the morning is up to me). Anther thing worth mentioning is that I’m very young (12), I liked to learn as much as I can about ethics and time management. I dearly hope you reply to this.

    Keep going,
    Samuel

Your blog is easily the best thing that happened to leadership developement! Im in Kenya, Africa and reading your books have shaped alot of what I expect from myself as a leader and from other leaders. I guess now we can be plugged in. This expands the horizons for mentoring on leadership by the leadership expert.

    John,
I was in St Paul last March 27-29th and saw you speak. I just want you to know I really appreciate the time that you talk about little towns in Ohio like Circleville and Lancaster. I grew up in Chillicothe, and it blesses me greatly to know you’ve been there and love that part of the world too. Thanks for all you do and for helping me realize last weekend that my dream was not really my own and I have to find out what mine is.

Great to find your blog and great to hear of your love for yellow legal pads – it’s the only way to write!

    John,

After hearing you speak last year, I am truly amazed that you have ventured into blogging.
Looks like you are going to provide us a living example of stretching our comfort zones.

    Thanks. Al

Thank you so much for beginning to make your wisdom available to us, electronically. As a geek to the core and someone passionate about computers and technology – it’s good to know that you are taking advantage of the media and technologies that are and will continue to be changing the way people communicate. Thank you for stepping outside of your comfort zone !!! :)

Your insightful thoughts on virtually all areas of life, and especially on leadership is worth its onions. What seemed unattainable to me over the years, have been brought within reach for me.Even when it seems that You’ve done so much for the human race-I BELIEVE THERE’S MORE.I’m committed to following through with you till the last-You have been good to me.I pray I’m able to get to the top in time,so as to see things the way you saw them, and is still seeing them.Mummy, has played her part well-She had a happy ending(God be with her till we meet),accept my deepest felicitations on the death of your mother.
